MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED Certificate. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Engineering, Business/Management. 6 - 10 years' experience managing Fiber Optics & Microwave Networks, including operational and business aspects of managing networks. 3 - 5 years of progressive Management/Supervisor experience required. A minimum of 3 years' experience supporting a 24/7 mission critical Network Operations infrastructure. Valid Driver's License (subject to motor vehicle review) JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES: Develops and manages the strategic direction for the Communication Systems Division. Ensures efficient operation of the NTUA Fiber Optic and Microwave Network, including the Network Operations Center (NOC) and Data Center. Ensure the development of effective Standard Operating Procedures that will continuously improve Network Performance and Customer Service. Establish and strive to meet Network Availability and Mean Time To Restore (MTTR) objectives, that meet or exceed Industry Standards and contractual commitments. Ensure that all Network Operational Departments are working together to deliver and provide high quality services to NTUA Network customers. Provide coordination with all sections within the Communication Systems Division and other providers directly on Transport and Optical equipment and services that will achieve maximum network uptime and swift resolution of all issues. Identifies and escalates issues requiring urgent attention from customers to the appropriate resources for expeditious troubleshooting and resolution. Responsible for developing the operating and capital budgets necessary to ensure continued efficient operation and growth of the NTUA Networks. Assists NTUA Business Development in developing proposals and pricing that will increase NTUA Network revenue by growing NTUA's Network customer base and increased services to existing customers. Responsible for negotiating and managing NTUA's Network Vendor contracts and costs. Provide coordination with all sections within Communication Systems Department with proper network planning as it pertains to documenting and verifying as-built drawings/documentation. Maintain proficiency in up-to-date technological developments in True Carrier Metro-Ethernet network, Internet/Communications infrastructure, and DWDM/CWDM fiber optic transport systems. Collaborates with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to achieve objectives of the company.
