OCES supports elders and individuals with disabilities by providing vital information and coordination of services. By promoting healthy, save lives for our consumers, we hope to allow them to stay as active and engaged in their lives and in their own communities for as long as possible.To that end we are seeking an Information & Referral Specialist to provide information to our consumers in response to service and eligibility inquiries. What you will do: Respond to callers' requests, solve problems as needed, and discuss the range of services and benefits options as appropriate Complete initial telephone assessment, a ssess eligibility and need for services Provide follow-up services for persons in need of information and/or referral Seek and maintain knowledge of programs, services and agencies serving elders, individuals with disabilities and caregivers Assist in maintaining an up-to-date library of Agencies throughout the area providing services to elders, individuals with disabilities and caregivers including nature and scope of services available Participate in promotional activities to expand I&R services among consumers, service providers, local government and the general public What you will bring: Your passion for helping others and desire to make a difference. Bachelor's degree in social work or related field preferred One year experience in the social services field. Working knowledge of the social, emotional, and physical processes of aging Ability to gain and hold the confidence of clients and their families. Ability to obtain information of a personal nature through interviews. Draw appropriate conclusions and make recommendations. Knowledge and skill necessary to work successfully within an interdisciplinary team; ability to express clearly, both orally and in writing What you'll get: Ability to work with an enthusiastic team of like-minded individuals.
