Belton Preparatory Academy Job Description (SPED Paraprofessional) JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: SPED Paraprofessional QUALIFICIATIONS: Paraprofessional certification preferred. REPORTS TO: School Administrator SALARY RANGE : $15,777 - $25,479 ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Works as a member of the school instructional team with students, parents, and instructional staff. Leads or assist with SPED instruction in small groups or with individual students under the direction of the SPED teacher/coordinator. Works with students to reinforce material introduced by the teacher. Assists students in utilizing technology. Assists teacher with non-instructional classroom duties. Assists teacher in duties relating to supervision of student drop off and pick up, along with playground and cafeteria activities. Maintains confidentiality concerning student records, data, and personal information. Utilizes planning time in the classroom under the direction of the teacher. Participates in staff development programs provided by the school. Assists teachers and administration in implementing and upholding all policies and/or rules governing student life, conduct, and behavior in a fair and just manner. Takes all necessary precautions to properly care for all property, equipment, materials, and facilities. Follows all Board and school policies, work procedures, and reasonable requests by proper authorities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Performs other related duties as required. PROFESSIONALISM: Dress in a neat, clean and professional manner as specified in the Employee Handbook. Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior and speech with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, support personnel, district personnel, and community members. Follow the chain of command as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Present a positive image of Belton Preparatory Academy at all times. Adhere to the South Carolina Teacher Code of Conduct. PHYSICAL REQIREMENTS: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear; operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment; reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
