POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for the broad areas of knowledge management, training, development and supervision of the application engineering team and direction of all Demonstration and Development Center (DDC Lab) activities.Responsible for the supervision/completion of proposal generation for capital equipment by identifying requirements and providing summaries of costs and lead time. This work involves technical bid package evaluation, generating technical responses, accumulating documentation, gathering cost information, and finalizing formal packages. Additionally, this involves reviewing customer needs and applications and identifying available solutions.Additionally responsible for supervising/conducting all testing, analyzing results, performing research activities and other tasks as necessary in a testing environment, recording all observations / measurements and reporting the results. This position includes responsibility for the maintenance of the TerraSource Development and Demonstration Center (DDC), including the setup and testing for both customer and internal research projects on TerraSource Global equipment and writing of test reports for both internal and external distribution. When necessary, provide direction to additional personnel assisting with testing and lab equipment maintenance. Responsible for general housekeeping of the lab facility, and enforcement of DDC safety policies. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following . Other duties may be assigned. Coordinate the effort, contributions and supervision of applications engineers and lab staff, delegating and assigning responsibilities to obtain economic and timely results. Directly support and engage in generating quotes for capital equipment by identifying requirements and providing summaries of costs and lead time. This work involves technical bid package evaluation, generating technical responses, accumulating documentation, gathering cost information, and finalizing formal packages. Additionally, this involves reviewing customer needs and applications and identifying available solutions. Continuously seek to build an understanding of products and industries. Converting these into standards, training, and support literature. Assist in maintaining the company's applications database, expanding it to improve both accessibility and content. Maintains existing and develops new application sizing and pricing programs for all equipment. Develop and maintain standard proposal formats to ensure all equipment is being accurately described and presented. Maintain, develop new and enforce all safety policies for the DDC Lab. Ensure that all testing requirements are clearly defined before the start of any testing. Document all testing phases with still image photos and/or video recordings as directed. Direct and follow all established procedures for testing, sampling, and assist in developing new procedures for new products or where special testing may be required. Provide manpower labor in safely setting up test equipment for both customer and internal lab testing. This includes assisting physically with setting up the crusher, vibrating feeder, and other equipment, as well as preparing test materials provided by the customer or other outside sources for testing by dumping, mixing, and classification as directed. Provide manpower labor in safely conducting testing. Testing must be conducted in a professional manner, as in many cases the customer may be present for testing. Assign specific duties during testing to Testing Technician(s) or other TerraSource Global personnel as needed. Provide manpower labor in safely conducting post-test analysis and distribution of the tested materials. This will include assisting with classification of the material on various classification equipment, mixing materials, bagging materials, and labeling samples for both Company and customer use. Assist in preparing samples for shipment to customers as directed. Analyze and compile data from testing into comprehensive test reports that include objective, equipment used, material, procedure, test results, test summary, and recommendations, and include charts, graphs, and any additional information as needed. Direct all alterations, modification, and changes to the lab equipment, including all re-configurations for testing. Construct necessary components as required to provide interconnections between equipment. Plan and conduct minor repairs as required, using outside shops for work of larger scope as needed. Assist with periodic re-configurations of testing equipment, as new products and ideas are developed. Responsible for lab inventory, and arranging purchase of consumables. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or equivalent from a college or university in Engineering, preferably Mechanical. Associates Degree with significant relevant experience is also acceptable. 4 to 10 years of broad engineering experience including product design, manufacturing methodology, laboratory, or sales engineering technical support is typical for this position. EXPERIENCE: Four to ten years of experience working in an Industrial environment. Pulling together information such as quotations and estimates from suppliers for large projects based on a project bid specification. Working with various types of bulk material handling and size reduction equipment such as belt conveyers, chain conveyers, screw conveyors and pneumatic systems. General experience with hand tools, lifts, cranes, and rigging. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine technical reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must be able to calculate volumes, areas, flow-rates and other measurement based on information provided. Must be able to use conversion tables and understand them. Must have basic algebraic skills and be able to demonstrate those skills to solve problems encountered in the applications of products and selection of appropriate equipment. REASONING ABILITY: Must be able to interpret company policies and how they affect any given situation. This person must be able to make reasonable decisions based on previous experience, data, and information supplied as it pertains to the project at hand. Must be able to establish reasonable priorities considering the various projects in which he or she could be involved with at any one particular time. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Demonstrated PC Skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Adobe Acrobat are required. Ability to be trained by TerraSource Global employees to learn other software programs as required, including company ERP & CRM systems. Ability to work unsupervised for extended periods of time. Occasional travel may be required to other TerraSource Global locations and customer facilities. Strong mechanical aptitude. Ability to read engineering drawings is required. Must be able to pass required lockout/tagout and fork truck training programs. Must possess a valid driver's license in state of residence and be insurable under company's motor vehicle insurance policy.
