Covenant has a beautiful 400-acre campus that stretches atop Lookout Mountain, Georgia on the Georgia/Tennessee border, just outside of Chattanooga. The campus enjoys incredible vistas of the Smoky Mountains and the Cumberland Plateau with views that span across several states. The region is widely known as an outdoor recreational paradise for campers, boaters, cyclists, climbers, cavers and hikers, all this while being conveniently located within two hours of Atlanta, Nashville and Knoxville. O pportunity: The Director of Business Operations oversees a wide array of business oriented college operations. By providing high quality services to students and the entire campus community, the director plays a key role in the college successfully furthering its mission and in fulfilling its vision. The director is also responsible for providing services to external constituents, significantly through the hosting of summer conferences and camps. These services and programs support college operations and enhance the college's reputation while providing profit to further the academic mission of the college. Position Requirements : Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Business A minimum of seven years of successful management experience including profit & loss responsibility, budgeting, and direct line management. Proven ability to successfully manage a diverse set of businesses with competing priorities. Demonstrated organizational, staff development, and team leadership skills. Ability to work closely with and supervise diverse employees including regular and temporary staff, student employees, and peer employees. Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to interact successfully with internal and external constituencies. Strong negotiating skills. Preferred Education/Experience: Direct experience in retailing, hospitality, conference management, or food service management. Position Responsibilities: Develop and successfully execute strategic and tactical plans for each major auxiliary and independent operation, focusing on aligning the plans and activities of each unit with the core college mission and financial objectives and the college strategic plan. Initiate new enterprises and/or enhance existing businesses within the strategic framework of the college. Investigate, develop, and maintain alternative sources of revenue. Achieve the budgeted profit for all areas of responsibility and operate all entities (Food Services, Bookstore, Office Services, Laundry, Conference and Events, Property Rentals) with professionalism and excellent customer service. Develop performance criteria for key operating partners (Food Services, Conference Services, and Bookstore vendors) and successfully manage these relationships to achieve annual financial and service delivery objectives. Lead and effectively develop personnel at all levels within reporting areas with a particular focus on the development of managers in each department. Oversee the college's risk management program and insurance policies. Review and manage the relationship with risk management service providers and recommend changes as necessary. Serve as the contact person for claims and incident reports, and issue certificates of insurance to college personnel as needed/requested. Additional Eligibility Requirements: An acceptance of and commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. An understanding of the mission and purpose of Covenant College. A strong understanding of and commitment to Scripture, the Westminster Standards, and the doctrinal standards of the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA) denomination. Must be able to assent to Covenant College's Staff Commitments Physical Work Environment: This role is expected to be performed on campus unless otherwise directed or arranged for and operates primarily in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines and other job-related technology. There is a mix of standing and sitting for this particular role. Classified as light, occasional lifting or lowering an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling) up to 10 lbs. Expressing or exchanging ideas and conversation by means of the spoken word; needs to be fluent and conversant using the English language. Generally, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel is not required for this position.
