George Fox University's Plant Services department is seeking an energetic and reliable Custodial Services Porter to perform day-to-day building maintenance that is critical to the overall function, presentation, experience of the campus facilities. About the Job: The overall duties of the Custodial Services Porter will include removing debris, maintaining several buildings and common room areas, restocking bathrooms and responding to all cleaning emergencies. The successful candidate will be highly organized, dedicated, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously. They would work with the Superintendent of Custodial Services, Plant Services and Event Services to execute an effective schedule, which will include their day-to-day routines, work timetable and the following responsibilities. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Monitoring and cleaning several public buildings, restrooms, and sports areas daily. Cleaning the rental van fleet. Monitoring large dumpsters for contaminants and emptying small trash receptacles on the main campus. Delivering, installing, repairing and moving furniture in student and office areas. Delivering supplies required for building cleaning crews as well as maintaining and repairing University cleaning equipment. Monitoring the event schedule to ensure assigned areas are clean before and after meetings and events. Responding to any major spills or other cleaning emergencies. Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service. By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role. Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people. Other duties as assigned. A day in the life of this position: This job requires the cleaning of assigned public buildings according to established procedures. This includes, but is not limited to, the disinfecting, daily cleaning and deep cleaning of common areas, bathrooms, offices, and more. Driving through the campus is necessary to maintain the trash and recycling dumpster areas and to empty small cans. In addition, the job involves washing and cleaning the rental fleet vehicles based on usage schedule. Work orders, furniture delivery, organizing and taking inventory may also be assigned and the employee must remain flexible as a consistent routine is not always the norm when it comes to daily duties. We're looking for candidates who have: Two or more years of experience in a similar role. The ability to lift up to 75 pounds continuously throughout an 8 hour shift. A clean driving record along with the ability to provide proof of a valid driver's license and pass the University Driver Certification. The ability to create and maintain spreadsheets and Microsoft Word documents. Enough flexibility to accommodate a varying schedule and job duties along with frequent night and weekend availability. The ability to follow instructions, problem solve and complete tasks as instructed. The capacity to work both in a team setting and independently, with a strong emphasis on precision and correctness. The willingness to easily adapt to changing schedules and job duties while demonstrating initiative and dependability. The innate ability to prioritize tasks along with a willingness to learn new skills and processes The ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, including on telephone, and to understand and follow instructions. A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. Job information: Hours Per Week - 40 hours Typical schedule is from 6:00am to 3:00pm, Monday through Friday This position requires occasional night and weekend shifts and the schedule will vary from week to week depending on events scheduled at the University. Work Location - Newberg Campus Working Conditions - Physical requirements could include lifting more than 75 pounds and performing any activities such as balancing, bending/stooping, climbing stairs, crawling, crouching, climbing ladders, kneeling, repetitive motion or reaching above shoulder level.
