Scientific Drilling is looking for a Diagnostic Technician to work at our Applied Technologies Center in Paso Robles, CA . Home to where others vacation, including 200+ wineries, fresh air, miles of beautiful beaches, and small town appeal. The Diagnostic Technician position will be working in our Diagnostics department. The Diagnostic Technician is expected to perform the essential duties listed below. Candidates must have authorization to work in the United States. Responsibilities: Test and troubleshoot electronic and mechanical components, parts, equipment, and systems. Conduct failure mode and root cause evaluations to effectively track and trend product reliability issues. Enter tool, equipment, and system investigation and repair data into non-conformance management system and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system with high degree of accuracy. Report reliability findings to supervisor. Proactively report on emerging or reoccurring failure trends. Assist in identifying possible corrective actions. Generate procedures and protocols for analyzing failures and processing tools and equipment. Adhere to Company's Quality Management System. Record and track additional investigation results and failure data as required by supervisor and management. Read wiring diagrams and schematics, engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), manufacturing instructions, and field operations documents to develop product knowledge. Apply product knowledge and electronic principles to diagnostic and repair responsibilities. Use multimeters and oscilloscopes to measure amperage, voltage and waveforms at specific operating temperatures to analyze parts performance. Write failure reports that include data on testing methods and techniques to communicate failure investigation process and results to supervisor, engineering, and product line personnel. Maintain equipment and tools in work area to safety and quality standards. Adhere to and improve safety standards in accordance with Safety Management System. Manage work station and practice good housekeeping techniques. Pursue every job with drive and determination. Use logic to solve problems with effective solutions. Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the needs of the business. May be required to work overtime. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to apply basic electronics principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to testing, troubleshooting, and repair of various products. Ability and eagerness to learn. Ability to work in fast paced and results driven environment. Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask. Good organizational and communication skills. Ability to present oneself with professional appearance and behavior in accordance with ATC dress code and SDI Code of Conduct. Ability to meet all SDI/ATC safety requirements. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to read, communicate, and understand the English language. Ability to communicate effectively with managers and peers, both written and verbally. Adhere to established Company procedures and policies, work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings. Ability and willingness to be a team player. Possess the ability to be interactive with management staff and co-workers. Required qualification: High School Diploma or GED equivalent Associates degree in Electronics (or related field) or 3+ years of experience in electronics testing and troubleshooting. Experience with data entry and effective time management. Experience with electronics maintenance, repair or troubleshooting. Proficiency with Windows based computers Proficiency with MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook. Additional preferred experience: 1+ year PCB component level testing and troubleshooting. IPC-J-STD-001 Training. Location, Physical Requirements, and PPE: Manufacturing: Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, identify colors, hear with aid, see , write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry 25 lbs. and under, perceive depth, and operate motor equipment. Conditions include working inside. Working around moving objects, machines with moving parts. Working around radiant and electrical energy. Work with heated soldering iron and flux. Working closely with others, working alone, working extended or irregular hours. Working environment may include but not limited to, intermittent noise, fumes, smoke, grease, dust, oils and solvents. Equipment (machines, tools, devices) used in performing the essential job function include but not limited to computer and related equipment, calculator, special instrumentation, hand tools, power tools, air tools, microscope and telephone. Ability to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to, safety glasses, reinforced toed shoes, gloves, and ear plugs or muffs.
