As an Electrical Systems Engineer, you will be applying electrical engineering and organizational skills to design and implement projects involving facilities, testing, machines, equipment, or processes used in manufacturing piping products, including management of multiple projects concurrently. The Electrical Systems Engineer supports manufacturing activities in processing materials or manufacturing products in an industrial large diameter spiral weld pipe and steel fabrication organization by performing the responsibilities listed below personally or with manufacturing personnel in a combined team approach. As part of the Technical Systems group this position exists as support for all aspects of ASWP operations, including production and maintenance, both directly and indirectly, at all division facilities. Daily functions are principally focused on completion of Technical Systems projects, but will be redirected on demand as required to meet production needs. Responsibilities include: Managing various aspects of multiple Technical Systems projects concurrently through implementation, including development, budgeting, scheduling, purchasing, as well as interfacing with ASWP employees. Designing or facilitating designs for modification of existing equipment, tools or facilities as required to support manufacturing process requirements. Manufacturing equipment, tools or facilities as required to support manufacturing process requirements, including complete O&M manuals. Direct support of and/or participation in equipment and facilities related maintenance activities and production activities, as assigned. Development of equipment maintenance plans via reliability centered maintenance practices. Support of maintenance teams via troubleshooting during unplanned maintenance delays and downtime. Analysis and trending of equipment performance using the Balanced Scorecard process. Perform and facilitate root cause failure analysis of equipment failures. Executing modification of existing equipment and facilities, as required, making it suitable for current manufacturing requirements. Interfacing with vendors and outside contractors to develop project budgets, as well as directing and completing facilities and equipment construction, modification or repair. Participating in developing and maintaining the division CAPEX program. Reviewing product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine the applicability to the target manufacturing process. Using computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to design equipment and facilities, and perform engineering tasks. Analyzing product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods. Analyzing engineering proposals, process requirements, and related technical data pertaining to industrial machinery and equipment design. Providing technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations that affect long-range plant and product engineering planning. Compiling and analyzing operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment. Studying engineering and technical publications to keep abreast of technical changes and developments in industry. Carrying out responsibilities and executing daily tasks in accordance with, and in support of the organization's policies, mission, vision, core values and applicable laws. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations. Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to write routine reports, equipment O&M instructions and general correspondence. Must be able to effectively communicate in English with all levels of employees, both verbally and in writing; must be able to speak effectively before vendors or employees of organization. Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Must be able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to program PLCs and interfacing same with drives. Must be able to work with control software. Must have functional knowledge of computer aided design software. Must have full knowledge of spreadsheet software (Excel), word processing software (Word), and presentation software (PowerPoint). Must be able to work well with others and perform duties professionally under pressure. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Professional registration a plus. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
