BASIC FUNCTION Under general supervision of the Aquatics Director, this position will be responsible for assisting the in management, hands-on aquatic work, and administrative duties to provide a safe environment where members and guests of all ages, cultures, and abilities can enjoy the pool area. Also, assists the Aquatics Director & Managers in the management and operation of a clean, safe, and organized concession stand, per the guidelines of the Health Department, while providing excellent customer service and a positive work environment for our employee's. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES "*" denotes an essential function of the job *Supervises all Guest Service Leads and Lead Lifeguards and will be the main point of contact for Guest Service Leads and Lead Lifeguards. *Maintain safe swimming conditions in pool, on pool deck, and surrounding areas, enforcing health and safety rules. *Lead and/or act as a Lifeguard, Swim Instructor (Water Safety Instructor) or Guest Services staff member when necessary. *Maintain emergency readiness and be ready to respond to emergency situations in accordance with the City of New Albany policies and procedures, completing incidents and accident reports as necessary in a timely manner. *Responds to and provides emergency assistance and care/treatment as trained until the arrival of emergency medical services. *Control and report unruly behavior and evict patrons not adhering to behavior protocols. *Develop rapport and maintain effective relationships with patrons, participants and co-workers. *Ability to work with bodily fluids to include cleaning feces, urine and vomit as needed. *Assist with daily reports, records and scheduling related tasks. *Perform routine maintenance of pool, locker rooms, and surrounding areas to ensure cleanliness. *Serve as the main point of contact for staff and patrons in absence of the Aquatics Director or Managers. *Supervise and lead a team of guest service team members. *Knowledge of basic math; maintain accurate cash handling procedures at all times. *Ability to prepare food orders as required and have good food/beverage presentation. *Maintain and keep a clean work area. *Have knowledge and understanding of all Floyd County Health Department rules and regulations. *Be present during concession stand inspections by Floyd County Health Department. *Maintain inventory and stock items as necessary. *Accurate take and prepare customer(s) order. Perform other duties as assigned. STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE Demonstrate informative and professional assistance when working with vendors, co-workers, and the public. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques. Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork. Complete projects and/or reports in accurate and timely manner. Reliable and punctual. Professional appearance and attitude at all times. Maintain City information in a confidential manner. MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Remain alert and responsive to the needs of patrons and staff. Must be able to easily move through all program areas and effectively communicate and actively interact with customers. Ability to work individually and as a team member. Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility. Lifeguard candidates should have a minimum hearing threshold of no more than an average of a 25-decibel loss in both ears over a range of frequencies. Candidates who use hearing aids or other corrective devices for hearing should be able to perform all rescue skills and emergency procedures without interruptions to adjust, retrieve, or install or attach a hearing aid or corrective device. Candidates who use corrective eyewear should be able to perform all rescue skills and emergency procedures without interruptions to adjust, clear, or retrieve corrective eyewear. Display professional appearance, warm demeanor and positive attitude. Be a motivated self-starter. Work independently and to be accurate, efficient and organized. Stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl frequently. Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently. WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS This position requires working in both an internal and external environment. This position requires a flexible work schedule; night and/or weekends and holiday will be required. The position involves being in an environment with recreational, aquatic and concession stand equipment The position involves working in the elements of seasonal weather. EDUCATION, Experience and TRAINING Must be at least 18 years of age. 6 months to 1-year experience in a managerial role. Be current in Lifeguarding, including CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid certification or equivalent. Willing to obtain Bloodborne Pathogens training within 30 days of employment. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form. A pleasant, friendly, and outgoing demeanor.Preferred Qualifications Current LGI ( Instructor) Certification OR the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire. Current WSI (Water Safety Instructor) Certification OR the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire. Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Manager Certification or equivalent or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire. Current Serve Safe Food Handler Certification OR the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire. Previous Management experience in Aquatics. Experience in food preparation and CPO. EQUIPMENT and TOOLS Computer and peripherals. Recreational equipment. Aquatic equipment. Concessions equipment. Ticketing/Admissions equipment. Time and attendance equipment.
