Senior Firearms Instructor Position Summary As a Senior Firearms Instructor at XCAL Shooting Sports and Fitness , you will be interacting with a variety of people from all over the world who are seeking professional-level firearms training. Communication, coaching and a desire to help others excel is required for potential candidates. Candidates must possess effective communication skills and be able to provi de a foundation that teaches basic and fundamental shooting skills all the way through advanced, coupled with critical thinking skills that prepare the student to react in any situation . Hands-on training begins in the classroom and eventually progresses to the range for live fire exercises. As an instructor, you will be conducting classes in our classrooms and on our state-of-the-art ranges . Job Duties and Responsibilities Communicate in a professional and courteous manner with all customers. Represent XCAL by conducting yourself in a professional manner that reflects positively on the XCAL brand . Work cooperatively with all staff to achieve XCAL 's goals and objectives. Provide safe instruction to a wide variety of students from beginner to advanced, to enhance their knowledge, expertise, and comfort level with a variety of firearms . Provide timely and constructive analysis to students on their shooting and progress of their skills in either a class setting, or within a private instruction setting. Encourage students to think critically, and routinely evaluate and improve the learning process. Cultivate open discussions and encourage thoughtful self-reflective assessment. Follow and uphold XCAL 's policies at all times . Essential Functions: Ensure safety and safe firing procedures are followed while on the firing range. Possess strong customer service and communication skills. Provide basic to specialized instruction in firearms handling and firing. Have experience developing curriculum. Ensure all range rules are followed by users. Must be comfortable with public speaking in small groups as well as large venues. Knowledge and use of effective adult learning techniques. Implement emergency procedures when necessary. Order immediate cease-fire when any unsafe condition occurs. Troubleshoot the training system, range equipment and lighting. Basic principles of First Aid and CPR desired. Other duties as assigned. Minimum qualifications: 5 years of continuous experience in firearms instruction from basic through advanced. NRA Firearms Instructor Certification (pistol, rifle, shotgun) Must be able to teach Concealed Handgun Permit classes and have certifications. Experience in customer service, public relations, office management or retail sales. Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade required. Strong public relations and communication skills. Thorough knowledge of the principles of firearms safety and the shooting industry. Ability to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail. Ability to learn new products in a timely manner. Observe accurately and remember names, faces, numbers, incidents, and places. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other companies, businesses, shooting ranges, and members of the community. Possession of, or ability to obtain by starting date, a valid Virginia Driver's License. Possession of, or ability to obtain by starting date, a valid CPR and First Aid and CPR. Able to pass a background check prior to employment. Able to pass urinalysis prior to employment. Preferred qualifications: E xperience instructing civilians, law enforcement, military or government operations.
