About Mobile Loaves & Fishes Mobile Loaves & Fishes (MLF) is a social outreach ministry that has been empowering communities into a lifestyle of service with the homeless since 1998. Founded in Austin, Texas, the organization serves its homeless neighbors through three core programs: Truck Ministry, Community First! Village, and Community Works. Often referred to as the most talked about neighborhood in Austin, Community First! Village is a 51-acre master planned development that provides affordable, permanent housing and a supportive community for men and women coming out of chronic homelessness. We are now embarking on a new phase of community expansion, adding more than 1400 new neighbors over the next 5-10 years. About the role The Fleet Manager is an integral part of the Maintenance Department. This position will perform a variety of maintenance and repair duties for vehicles and machines at Community First! Village, a 51-acre master-planned community that provides affordable, permanent housing for individuals coming out of chronic homelessness. This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Director of Maintenance. Due to the nature and requirements of the position, hours are 8 am-5 pm Monday through Friday. The Fleet Manager will office at Community First! Village which is located at 9301 Hog Eye Road, Austin, TX 78724. Duties & Responsibilities experience in at least 2 of the following areas: Motorized power equipment Groundskeeping equipment Golf carts UTVs Passenger buses and vans Trucks, vans, cars, etc. Keep proper maintenance records and schedule preventative maintenance in a timely manner Communicate with MLF staff to ensure vehicle maintenance and repairs are taking place in a timely manner Work with outside contractors when necessary to secure materials, larger repairs, etc. Maintain work area, including shop, materials, and parts Other Duties & Responsibilities as needed Knowledge Skills & Abilities Commitment to serving those who have experienced homelessness and personal alignment with MLF's vision, mission, core values, and goals The successful candidate will be passionate and knowledgeable about the nonprofit/social sector 1 to 2 years of vehicle repair experience Practice safety procedures while maintaining and repairing various vehicles and golf carts Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment with accuracy and speed Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools Ability to effectively communicate with a positive attitude Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, neighbors, and volunteers Familiarity with MS Office a plus Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Comfortable teaching others and giving guidance Willingness to take ownership of projects and find creative ways to accomplish goals with limited resources Dependable; consistently showing up to work and meeting deadlines Must submit to pre-employment and as well as randomized drug and alcohol testing Must have a valid driver's license Work Environment & Physical Demands Regularly required to reach with hands and arms Frequently required to stand and walk; must talk and hear clearly; must use hands to finger, handle, feel, and operate objects, tools, or controls Required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in all outside weather conditions Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration Occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock Noise level in the work environment is moderately loud Must be able to consistently lift at least 50lbs Benefits Day one 100% Employer paid, Health, Dental, Vision, Life, & LTD Insurance Generous Paid Time Off & Holiday Pay Matching 401(k) Retirement Plan Corporate Discount Program Professional Development Opportunities Employee Assistance Program Paid Parental Leave Wellness Partnership Benefits MLF is a faith-based organization with its ideals and philosophy coming directly from the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
