JOB TITLE: Semi Trailer Mechanic DEPARTMENT: Express Service FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Express Manager CREATED/REVISED: 3-1-2023 Seneca Tank's Service Department has immediate full-time openings for express service mechanics working out of our dealership in Des Moines. Summary: Reporting to the Tractor Modifications/Refurb Manager, the incumbent performs DOT inspections, can work with semi-ABS systems and can perform suspension work on semi-trailers. The job holder performs regular routine checkups/preventive maintenance of the trailers, conducts tune-ups of trailer systems to ensure good working conditions, and can also inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical electrical, and other defects. Supervisory Responsibility: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Essential Job Functions: Perform all duties in accordance with OSHA policies and procedures. Immediately report any incidents or violations. Diagnose and repair problems related to hydraulic components, steering systems, engines, transmissions, drive trains and braking systems of equipment. Repair trucks, trailers, and related equipment promptly and efficiently. Weld and/or fabricate necessary parts for the repair of equipment. Conduct routine maintenance and service on equipment. Electrical troubleshooting and repair Ability to work outdoors. Repair trucks, trailers, and related equipment promptly and efficiently. Weld and/or fabricate necessary parts for the repair of equipment. Exceptional understanding of mechanical and technical information. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Evaluate equipment for needed repairs. A valid driver's license. Knowledge and experience in semi-trailer air brake systems, Equipment Hand, power, and stationary tools: metal-cutting band saws welding/cutting torches pneumatic ratchets screwdrivers metal brakes electric drills wrenches Safety: Follow policies found in Seneca Tank's Safety Manual. Special Conditions of Employment: The job holder is required to provide their own work tools.Upon receiving a conditional employment offer, job candidates must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen. Qualifications: Proficiency in the use of all tools of the trade (including welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools) required. Experience in Tractor and Trailer PMs and repairs.
