From our sports-adorned walls full of memorabilia and massive TVs, we are here to provide a great time for all and grow into a neighborhood near you. Role As the Sous Chef, you will act as the second in command in the kitchen while following and coordinating with the Head Chef. As the Sous Chef, you should be able to assign and designate roles in the absence of the Head Chef, while maintaining the health and cleanliness standards of a Neighbors restaurant. The duties of the role will include recruiting new employees for the Head Chef to sign off on, responding to customer complaints on food in a timely manner, and help with the creation of new menu items whether for the full menu or for a seasonal menu. You should have excellent communication skills, an in-depth knowledge of inventory and labor management, and understanding of ordering pars and adjustments based off of sales projections. Role Responsibilities Keeping up with the cleanliness of the kitchen and delegating tasks to maintain equipment Maintain Safe Food Procedures in accordance with local and state health codes, as well as the standard set forward by Neighbors Recruitment and training of new BOH employees Streamlining the kitchen to ensure fast and accurate orders Development of hourly team members Understanding order guides and adjustments of pars in the absence of the Head Chef Maintain a consistent food cost by tracking variances and reviewing usage Work with Head Chef to maintain labor and cost expectations on a quarterly level Perform weekly/monthly inspections with Head Chef to maintain cleanliness standards Daily Responsibilities Lead daily meetings with both morning and night crews about expectations of the shift Assist in the writing of the schedule to be checked by Head Chef Perform Temperature checks of receiving, prepped food and coolers to assure food quality Coaching in the moment with leadership Daily development of staff Placing orders and updating par guides Tracking food waste and over/under usages Job Qualifications 2+ years of previous kitchen management experience required Availability for all shifts required (nights and weekends, some holidays) Knowledge of several cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and best practices Understanding of Aloha systems and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Manager ServSafe Certification preferred Ability to work with Head Chef on daily, weekly, and monthly communications Dedication to health and safe service standards set by Health Department and Neighbors Nashville
