Summary/Objective The Resident Engineer is the first point of defense for containment activities for customer issues at PFS. This will be will require extensive hands-on, detailed, technical expertise. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Applies the principles of product quality planning, evaluation, and control in support of the manufacturing and installation operations of the organization. Responsible for applicable systems related to plant customer issues such as corrective action requests, supplier corrective action requests, nonconforming material reports, and 8D process. Leads containment activities. Facilitates continuous improvement quality activities to reduce the potential for defects, and ensures continual improvement in process and product design. Ensures products and process development meet quality standards. Identifies problems, prioritizes actions, leads or participates in continues improvement projects. Immediate containment activities for issues found at customer site. Incoming inspection and rework of parts as applicable. Feedback of information (incoming inspection results, quality issues, potential root cause, customer expectations and sensitivity to manufacturing plant personnel). Rework of paint defects as necessary (incoming and post paint). Ability to troubleshoot root cause during repair process. Be the voice of the plant at customer production meetings - reporting on issues, action items to customer plant management. Build a strong working relationship with the customer . Required Assignments Selection of special characteristics Corrective and preventive actions Process design and development Capacity Analysis One of two required for a consensus to stop a shipment Competencies Problem Solving - Solves problems using a systematic analysis process by leveraging CORE A3 DMAIC methodologies and recommended actions to prevent problem re-occurrence. Manages conflict - Handling conflict situations effectively, with minimum noise. Participates in change management activities by verifying products and processes, developing key measures, analyzing data for decision support, and presenting results to plant leadership. Supervisory Responsibility There are no direct reports, but will be working closely with management team on schedule and process Work Environment This job operates in a professional manufacturing office and shop floor environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. This position may occasionally require extended hours and/or weekend work. Travel Up to 20% required. (Travel to Gaffney, SC, plant as needed for training.) Required Education, Skills, and Experience 2-year degree or applicable work experience 3 years of experience in quality assurance / control for a high volume manufacturer. Must be proficient with containment, rework, and repair processes on Class A surfaces. 3 year of experience and demonstrated expertise with fiberglass, body, paint repair and / or manufacturing. Knowledge of root cause analysis tools and data collection Proven negotiation skills with the ability to be the voice of Core at the customer site.
