Accountant Job Title: Accountant Reports to: Chief Executive Officer Department: Administration Status: Part-time/non-exempt Pay Range: $45,000 - $60,000/year Job Summary: The Accountant is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. Essential duties and responsibilities Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure. Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close. Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information. Assist the Chief Executive Officer in the daily banking requirements. Ensure the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions. Ensure the monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner. Develops budget and forecasting activities. Collaborates with the other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives. Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Provides financial, administrative, and clerical support by ensuring payments are completed and expenses are controlled by receiving payments, processing, verifying and reconciling invoices according to established policies and procedures in an efficient, timely and accurate manner Accountant secures by verifying and posting receipts; resolving discrepancies in accordance with Finance Policies & Procedures. Deposits daily cash /checks receipts to the Organization's bank account. Posts payments by recording checks and electronic deposits Reconcile accounts receivable ledger against bank deposits Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions. Responds to inquiries from the Executive Management Team regarding financial results, special reporting requests Work with the Chief Executive Officer to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit. Responsible for the general ledger to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met. Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department. Provide training to new and existing staff as needed. Support Chief Executive Officer with special projects and workflow process improvements. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficient in Windows and Microsoft applications including Word, Power Point, and Outlook. Strong experience in Excel and Access. Must have a high level of organizational skills. Ability to develop and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with a variety of people. Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills with staff, vendors, medical providers, and members of the general public. Complete many different duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. Must be able to work under stress when confronted with critical or unusual situations. Must be able to follow instructions explicitly. Demonstrates ability to exercise analytic ability. Read and write, verbal and written communication, time management, and interpersonal skills. Prioritize, meet deadlines, and use sound judgment Education and Experience: BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in accounting. Three to five years prior experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area. Experience working in healthcare is preferred. Physical Demands: Repetitive hand movement use and view PC.
