New Horizon Community Care (NHCC) is recruiting for a dedicated, reliable, energetic Full-Time Clinical Student Intern for our Outpatient Programming in Tempe. About New Horizon Community Care: We are a non-profit agency that specializes in a Residential Group Home and Outpatient Clinic program. The agency provides programming in order to aid in the development and behavior management of clients in our care. We focus on the development of goals, independent living skills, employment skills, decision making, counseling and the development of a strong work ethic.As a Student Intern you will provide counseling services to program participants under the direct supervision of a licensed professional counselor. Student Intern will learn to effectively conduct intakes on new clients, develops client treatment/service plans, coordinates services provided to the client, and track/record and report on client progress. Student Interns provide individual, family and group treatment under the direction of the Clinical Director as well as facilitate psycho-educational classes. RESPONSIBILITIES : Plans and carries out individual, family and group counseling treatment. Performs case management tasks necessary to scheduling and conducting interviews, determining client program eligibility, screening of clients, client intakes and tracking/recording and reporting on client progress. Maintains accurate and complete records of clients on caseload. Schedules and/or attends upon request other meetings with other individuals/organizations relative to the client's treatment. Attends scheduled clinical supervision and counseling meetings for information exchange, case reviews and client treatment. Assists immediate supervisor in performance of delegated, special assignment duties. QUALIFICATIONS Student is currently enrolled in a Master's program in the counseling discipline. Must be able to demonstrate good writing and verbal communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate to a variety of treatment and criminal justice professionals, in order to effectively coordinate the client's care. Must be able to competently demonstrate individual, family and group therapeutic skills. Must be able to demonstrate competent assessment skills. Must be able to integrate knowledge of substance abuse and mental health treatment into effective therapeutic practice on both an individual and group basis. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work effectively with diverse populations with co-occurring diagnoses - including Adults and Adolescents. Knowledge of mental health counseling theory and techniques. Must pass all necessary background checks and be able to obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint clearance card. Must pass urinalysis and TB testing Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States. Must be at least 21 years old Must have a non restricted Driver's License WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift from floor to waist up to 20 pounds. Must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English. Must be able to give and receive verbal and written instructions. Must possess the ability to utilize visual and auditory senses to complete all job duties as assigned. Students are required to obtain individual liability insurance coverage prior to beginning the practicum experience Available M-F 9a-5p This is NOT a paid internship There is no guarantee of future employment
