PROGRAM OVERVIEW Food for Seniors provides monthly nutritional food boxes to seniors who are 60 years old or older and meet Federal Income Guidelines. Catholic Charities Food for Seniors is the sole agency of Louisiana's Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) which works to improve the health of low-income elderly persons at least 60 years of age by supplementing their diets with nutritious USDA Foods.The program also educates clients about good nutrition by providing nutritional information that includes easy to make recipes using commodity foods, caloric intake, how to stretch food dollars and eat a healthy diet.Catholic Charities' Food for Seniors is an equal opportunity program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals. POSITION DESCRIPTION The Outreach Representative will support the mission of the Food for Seniors Program by developing and maintaining strong relationships with assigned volunteer organizations through systematic communication, site visits, and capacity development. As the Outreach Representative representing the organization, he/she will demonstrate a professional demeanor in interactions with all external agencies, program representatives and government officials in providing support and ensuring compliance. Essential Duties: Work with community organizations to establish and maintain program sites for CSFP distribution in order to obtain the prescribed number of caseloads allotted by USDA. Makes presentations to education and recruit potential partner programs to establish new sites. Coordinates with Programs staff and outside community resources for maximum benefit to partner programs and community members. Ensures compliance with the USDA regulations for CSFP for program participation, including following all procedures and reporting guidelines. Provide information and assistance to community agencies seeking to become a volunteer site. Conduct orientation, on-site evaluation and other necessary training to ensure the new member agency is clear on roles and responsibilities. Determines eligibility, enrolls and re-certifies participants. Other duties as assigned. Technical/Computer Skills: Ability to use Microsoft Outlook. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word preferred. Licenses and Certificates: Valid Driver's License and own transportation to work required. Maintain safe driving record in driving company vehicles. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong customer service ethic is required Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders internal and external to ProgramMust be highly organized and self-motivated Willingness to work irregular hours as needed Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to adapt to new software, digital media, and on-line systems. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds. Must be reliable and dependable. Minimum Required Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma; Two years customer service experience. Prior experience in a non-profit setting preferred.Prior experience working with federal grants and/or food delivery preferred.Schedule: Monday- Friday 7:00 am - 1 :00 pm; occasional Saturdays; Hourly position; no lunch Reports to: State-Wide Outreach Manager
