Position Overview We are looking for a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) to join our growing dental department. This role is part time at 16-20 hours/week and reports to the Dental Coordinator. The RDH will be responsible for providing dental hygiene services in our dental clinic which serves uninsured and underinsured Goochland residents. Essential Job Functions Responsible for obtaining assessments, treatment planning hygiene services, performing dental hygiene services and establishing recall appointment intervals with patient and dentist. Work cooperatively with Dental Assistant and other dental support staff. Will be working with a volunteer and paid staff. Provide dental and oral health education to patients and families. Collaborate with dental coordinators to maximize clinic productivity and scheduling procedures, and toward establishing guidelines for care and treatment. Be understanding of needs and personalities of patients seeking treatment at Clinics. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Completion of the RDH program with an associate or bachelor's degree in dental hygiene. New graduates are welcome to apply. Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a dental hygienist. Certificate in local anesthesia. Knowledge of proper coding and supporting documentation necessary for dental hygiene services. Commitment to the mission of GoochlandCares. Strong interpersonal and communication skills displaying a caring, tactful, diplomatic, and respectful attitude towards staff, volunteers, and patients. Willingness to work as a team and treat patients with respect and compassion. Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and schedules. Familiar with and willing to learn existing dental records and electronic medical records software (Eaglesoft, Dexis, eClinicalWorks). Understanding that all employees participate in engaging volunteers to help fulfill our mission. Bilingual is recommended but not required.
