Summary The Shelter Operations Navigator is responsible for monitoring the operations of the shelter on Sunday and Saturday from 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM, along with providing support for service coordination. All employees are expected to learn and exhibit the core values of Catholic Charities of Acadiana as defined in the employee handbook and on the CCA website. Duties will include but are not limited to the following: Center Monitoring Remain flexible with respect to shift changes as needed Monitor operations of facility Monitor medication of shelter guests Housekeeping duties Warm-up and distribute meals to shelter guests Secure facility in the evening, set alarm Answer telephone and take messages, observing privacy standards at all times Screen facility guests, observing privacy policy at all times Monitor smoking area and parking lot Provide crisis prevention/intervention and supportive counseling Perform hallway checks every hour and document on Hallway Monitoring Form Perform housekeeping tasks as assigned by supervisor Provide transportation when necessary Report to the diner during meal times in order to informally assess clients for needed services and to effectively and safely de-escalate potential crises Contact on-call staff or supervisor when an incident occurs that requires assistance Distribute supplies Keep storage rooms organized and restocked Report maintenance problems to supervisor Coordinate freeze-plan and other emergency shelter as needed Communicate regularly with supervisor Be courteous and polite at all times, treating every guest with dignity and respect Attend all training assigned by supervisor Any other duties assigned by supervisor Service Coordination Support Document that clients have been accounted for on bed list, turn in to Service Coordinator Minimal data entry Maintain pertinent information in the shift report Report to on-call staff immediately when 911 is called Any other duties assigned by supervisor Job Qualifications Education - High School Graduate Experience - Two years' experience in social-service-related field preferred The ideal candidate is expected to: Maintain appropriate behavior and personal boundaries Be skilled in de-escalation and conflict resolution Job Specifications Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. 100% of the time Job Type Part-time Pay From $15.00 per hour Benefits Retirement plan Schedule Weekends Work Location: One location
