Hours: M-F 9am-5pm Department: Diana Baldwin Clinic Supervisor(s): Director of Integrated Behavioral Health Services Full-Time: 40 hours per week; Exempt The Intensive Out-Patient Drug and Alcohol program is located within Behavioral Health Department of Philadelphia FIGHT. All staff is expected to work as team members in order to provide integrated, comprehensive treatment for the whole person, Philadelphia FIGHT is seeking a Drug and Alcohol Therapist to conduct individual and group psychotherapy to clients with substance abuse problems in an outpatient treatment program setting. We are a premier provider of treatment and educational programs for adults who are struggling with chemical dependency. We provide clinically sound, research-based treatment options at our centrally located facility in downtown Philadelphia, Pa. Job Responsibilities Counselor caseloads at Philadelphia FIGHT do not exceed 35 active clients; therefore, there is always a minimum of one counselor for every 35 clients. Completion of CPR and first aid certification Will be in charge of running groups Is responsible for the up keep of client's records and charts. Outgoing referrals are made when the program lacks the capability to handle a particular consumer problem. Every effort will be made during the assessment and evaluation period to identify problems and appropriate resources for the treatment of those problems. The counselor will complete all necessary trainings within the first year of employment. All staff employed by Philadelphia FIGHT will receive a minimum of six (6) hours of training on HIV/AIDS, a minimum of four (4) hours of training on tuberculosis, sexually transmitted diseases and related health topics using a Department of Health approved curriculum. Counselor Assistants will complete the training within the first year of employment. Each Counselor will complete at least 25 clock hours of which are Co-Occurring Disorders specific for those providing services in the Co-Occurring Program. Co-Occurring Core Training including: Co-Occurring Psychiatric and Substance Use Overview, Principles of Engagement with Individuals with a Co-Occurring Disorder and the Family Members, Individualized Approaches and Supports for C0-Occurring Care Planning and Documentation Issues, Psychopharmacology, Crisis and Relapse Intervention, Recovery, Rehabilitation, and Self-Help for Co-Occurring Disorders, Ethics and Boundaries for effective C-Occurring Services and Working Respectfully with Family Members. Advanced Co-Occurring, Core Training within the first year of employment including: skill Building Techniques, Consensus and Evidences Based Practices, Trauma Informed Treatment, Drugs of Abuse Updates, and Other appropriated training based upon individual need. Qualifications Educational Background: Master's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependence, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing, (with a clinical specialty in the human services) or other related field which includes a practicum in a health or human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting. General Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Demonstrated competency communicating effectively with HIV/AIDS infected/affected individuals, families, couples, and groups with mental health problems, substance abuse problems and or dual diagnosis problems. Ability to utilize and follow all mental health and drug and alcohol licensing regulations and requirements of the state, insurance companies, and other funding sources. Physical Demands Ability to continuously stand, walk or sit. Ability to bend, climb stairs frequently. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds infrequently. Ability to squat occasionally. Compensation Competitive, benefits included. Other Initial probationary period is three months (90 days).
