Coplas is seeking knowledgeable, self-directed, experienced and hardworking individuals interested in the automotive industry as a Maintenance Supervisor (Injection Molding). Job Summary & Reporting Structure: Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor (Injection Molding) is responsible for maintaining all facilities, injection molds and processing equipment in safe and good working order. In addition, they will assist in the resolution of injection mold and equipment problems and the installation of new equipment. They will be responsible for supervising all maintenance ensuring the policies and procedures outlined in the Quality System are adhered to and continuous improvement is practiced wherever possible. To be familiar with and practice and promote all aspects of the ISO9001:2015 and IATF 16949 Quality System and Health & Safety policies Responsibilities: Ensure the safety of all personnel and vendors. Behave in a safe manner at all times. Comply and ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental legislation and regulations', ensuring a safe work environment at all times through enforcement, promotion and improvement of the Company's health and safety practices. Ensure, as a priority, all equipment safety devices are functional and all safety procedures are being followed. Monitor and maintain all molds, fixtures, plant and processing equipment in safe and good working order, ensuring minimal breakdowns and ongoing compliance to government environmental and production standards. Oversee the operations of the maintenance department, ensuring all required maintenance is completed and recorded and that the Preventative Maintenance Program is implemented, maintained, documented and effective as per the procedures outlined in the Quality System ensuring maintenance department goals are met. Plan, organize, co-ordinate and monitor maintenance / molding schedules Manage maintenance, resolving concerns, reviewing performance, and maintaining morale, discipline and ensuring all personnel are properly trained and adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the Quality System. Conduct performance appraisals Ensure that the stockroom is organized, labeled and well stocked with spare parts; ensure inventory costs are minimized through establishing optimal ordering points and consolidating supplies. Ensure that strategic spare parts are stocked or readily available from vendors. Organize and perform regular PM tasks. Work with scheduling to plan, organize, co-ordinate, oversee and perform PM and major maintenance tasks including weekend or shutdowns as required. In conjunction with production, ensure all areas are kept clean and free of excess oils and grease. Make recommendations regarding maintenance procedures, purchases of new equipment, or plant or equipment improvements/repairs. Actively participate as a member of teams engaged in Continuous Improvement and Lean activities. Promote continuous improvement in all areas Arrange for quotation and coordinate all facilities upgrades including construction, machine movement/installation. This includes all related planning, scheduling and liaison on the execution of these activities. Ensure that all Preventative activities, repairs on tools, machines, and robots are current Develop and edit PM tasks and activities to ensure optimal equipment operation and manpower usage Manage Skilled trades including Moldmaker(s), Electrician(s), Mechanic(s) whether employees or contractors Solicit bids and present recommendations for repairs and upgrades Oversee the safe and optimal utilization of all plant and equipment through proper operation and maintenance. Provides technical support to plant manufacturing with participation in lean and cost savings projects and scrap reduction. Provides technical support to plant maintenance with support for repair, replacement, and upgrade of assembly tools and existing production equipment. Supports new product launches utilizing APQP process, including support for new capital requests. Ensure that proper start-up, shut-down, and troubleshooting procedures are being followed Qualifications: Minimum-Secondary School & Equivalent Working Experience Applicable Post-secondary education preferred-Trades or Engineering Scientific Molding Training preferred Effective communication skills Hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical and electronic controls Preventative Maintenance Systems (Megamation an asset) Equipment quotations and selection Equivalent Experience: 10 years in a hands-on technical role in Injection Molding (Equipment & Tooling) Experience in a leadership role Perferred consideration to candidates with the following demonstrated knowledge: Troubleshooting and repair of molds, mold processes, machines and auxiliary equipment Tool design, gating, hot runner systems and valve gates Familiarity with plastic processing. Understanding of injection mold processing Ability to evaluate molding and tooling problems for best solutions. Ability to manage complex assignment priorities. Product and process quality by setting process variables; establishing standards; and confirming all sampling processes. Development and maintenance of process documentation Ensuring all processes are running to baseline and that any changes are properly evaluated and documented with the appropriate change form. Investigate new technologies and determine their viability to our products (conformal cooling, pulse cooling, cavity pressure sensors, electric servo valve gate systems, etc.) Provide technical leadership and mentorship to process technicians, operators and other molding personnel.
