The Pastry Assistant supports the Pastry Chef in preparing all types of baked goods for the multiple Outlets at Pursell Farms inclduing the restaurants, special events and wedding and private dinners as well as other corporate and private events. The Pastry Assistant will be involved in the creation of products, assist with the manangement of the inventory and fulfill requests. The Pastry Assistant willwork closely with other members of the Culinary Team. They will strive to model the Pursell Farms core values in the completion of their work.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assist in the preparation of desserts, breads and pastries in accordance with existing menus Decorate wedding cakes and other special cakes per request Plate desserts for serving Prepare baked goods for special dietary requirements such as gluten free, sugar free, etc. Insure the kitchen equipment is in good working conditions at all times Maintain a clean and orderly workspace Work cooperatively with the Pastry Chef to insuer that all product is completed in a timely manner and of the highest quality and is visually pleassing Perform all other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Graduate of a Culinary program with specialty certificate or proof of apprenticeship preferred One year of experience working as a Pastry Assistant in a resort or restaurant setting prefered SKILLS Demonstrated professional work ethic Attention to detail in completing menus and recipes Understanding of proper cooking techniques Time management and organizational skills Excellent customer service skills Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
