Earth Services & Abatement (ESA) and Iowa Demolition is seeking a top-notch Safety Technician to join our team. ESA is the leading environmental remediation and demolition firm in the Midwest and Rocky Mountain regions, providing turnkey asbestos and lead abatement, demolition, and contaminated soil and water remediation to commercial, industrial, and government clients nationwide. The Safety Technician will act as a direct representative of the company and perform a full spectrum of safety services including but not limited to inspecting work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations. Responsibilities also include documenting safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures, and maintaining safety equipment supply and availability. The successful candidate will, at a minimum, have knowledge of commonly used safety concepts, practices, and procedures and must be willing to travel and stay overnight as needed. Essential Functions : Understand and believe in Zero Injury approach to safety. Provide safety orientation to workers and conduct safety briefings. Perform jobsite safety inspections to observe workers performing job duties and work with Foreman/Supervisor's to correct safety violations. Develop ideas and generate solutions for hazards identified in the work environment. Assist in managing and tracking DOT requirements. Investigate all incidents or near misses. Ensure incidents are properly reported to internal and external parties. Conduct job reviews to ensure supervision is performing company's safety programs. Follow up with management to address safety concerns and determine necessary corrections. Calibration of equipment used in conducting air monitoring. Complete lab chain of custody forms and send samples to the lab. Work with the Safety Director and Human Resources Director to provide injury case management coordinating with clinic and physician activities, with a return to work focus. Serve as Incident Commander during emergencies; willing to be reached and able to assist 24/7. Complete specific projects, assignments and other tasks as assigned. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of employees verbally and in writing. Travel 15-20% of the time. Basic Qualifications: 1 - 3 years of experience in a safety conscious role required. Clean Motor Vehicle record required. Entry level knowledge of field inspections. Bachelor's degree in occupational health, safety, construction management, or a related field is a plus but not required. OSHA 30 preferred. Entry level knowledge/understanding of DOT compliance preferred. Entry level knowledge/understanding of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and environmental laws preferred. Knowledge/understanding of Worker's compensation case management helpful. Entry level knowledge of local, state and federal regulations. Certified HAZWOPER 40 / 8 hour preferred. Detail oriented including strong time management and organizational skills. Exhibit a high level of motivation and initiative. Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities and challenges with enthusiasm. Proficient in MS Office application: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook required Perform other duties, as assigned. S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien Status. Work Environment While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee may be exposed to mild noise level in the work environment. The stress level in this position is considered moderate.
