Location: Northern Vermont (VT) Vancro is currently seeking a full time Staff American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to add to their designated roster in Northern Vermont. ASL Interpreters shall provide expert sign language services within the K-12, community and remote environments. Summary of Position: Vancro is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small business that takes pride in being exceptional. We are veteran owned and Interpreter and Deaf run. We are seeking to expand our team of interpreters in Northern Vermont. This full-time American Sign Language interpreting position will include a combination of K-12 interpreting and Community interpreting in-person work in Northern Vermont and remote work across the state. The interpreter will be expected to reside in Northern Vermont / Orleans County or surrounding areas and be willing to travel. The expectation for this Sign Language interpreter will include being responsible for facilitating all communication between Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing (D/HoH) students, Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing/Hearing community members, and hearing personnel by using appropriate interpretation for the for each consumer while following the Registry of Interpreter's Code of Professional Conduct. Duties and Responsibilities: • Ensure Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing students receive and understand communication presented in an educational setting through the interpreting process. Work collaboratively with general education classroom teachers to facilitate signing interpretation andenvironmental feedback.• Providing excellent interpreting services within community working in a broad range of environments.• Works effectively in teams with other sign language interpreters when Team Interpreting opportunities arise.• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested• Ethically accepts or turns down work following RID's CPC Minimum Qualifications: • AS degree in interpreting from anIPP (Interpreter Preparation Program) or minimum 5 years interpreting experience.• Experience of 12 months (1 year) interpreting experience• Ability to provide interpreting/transliterating services for the campus community and Deaf community as scheduled• Fluent in ASL and English• Strong interpreting and transliterating skills• Strong spoken English skills• Strong receptive ASL skills• Familiarity with or ability to learn specialized and technical sign and spoken vocabulary related to assignments• Strong collaboration with a team• Ability to drive to interpreting locations Preferred Qualifications: • Minimum of 5 years post-secondary interpreting experience• BA/MA in IPP or related field• Hold current NAD-RID National Certification or EIPA certification• Vancro internal screening to be performed in lieu of the above qualificationsJob listing in ASL: Vermont Staff Interpreter Job Announcement - YouTube Commitment to Diversity and Equal Employment Opportunity Employer Vancro is committed to employing interpreters who are dedicated to communication access.
