Summary The role of Splicing Lead position will be responsible for tracking & meeting project deadlines. You will collaborate cross-functionally to adequately schedule resources where they are needed. This position will also entail managing a team of up to five splicers. This position reports to the Project Manager within the specified market. Role and Responsibilities Recommend alternatives to save money or improve delivery. Determine if inventory qualities are sufficient for needs, ordering more materials when necessary. Maintain knowledge of all organizational policies and governmental laws Collaborate with leadership to coordinate maintenance, repairs, or replacement as needed. Responsible for completing work orders and retrieving proper signatures for accurate billing. Ensures all installation work is done according to quality standards. Access the fiber optic slice enclosures and splice the necessary fibers directly from the ladder. Troubleshoot and repair problems utilizing optical test equipment such as OTDR, Fiber Identifiers & Exfos Prep, tray and splice fiber optic cable ranging from single fiber to 864 count. Perform other duties as requested by supervisor. Planning and acquiring supply needs. Read, understand, and update designs. Mange and meet project deadlines. Oversee Time and Attendance duties, e.g., approving timecards. Perform and supervise work in retrofit and new construction environments. Work safely at all times utilizing the necessary Personal Protection Equipment Perform administrative tasks including, but not limited to, documenting test results and as built, maintaining log books, providing labor summary reports etc. Develop project plan including required materials, deliver schedules, completion schedules, manpower requirements and tool/equipment lists. Ability to properly instruct other technicians or techniques, works, etc., as needed to keep project work flowing. Possess a high level of independent judgment within established procedures. Develop and document filed operations standards, training, and best practices. Train and develop new and existing field technicians. Basic knowledge of fiber optic theory which includes fiber loss, connector types, and the different types of fibers. Full knowledge of operation fiber optic splicing equipment. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints and building plans, document daily records and reports, and hours worked Ability to complete designated amount of work in a specified time frame (e.g., quality jobs per day), adjusting work assignments or schedules to meet changing work-related priorities or demands Ability to climb and work at elevation (from ladders, poles, lift trucks) exceeding 18 feet Ability to work in confined spaces (attics, crawl spaces) Ability to perform strenuous physical activities (lifting objects weighing over 100 lbs.) Ability to perform job activities outdoors in different weather conditions Strong knowledge of MS Office suite or equivalent software such as Google Docs and Sheets Knowledge of basic math Qualifications and Education Requirements 5 years' experience preferred Read blue prints Basic Knowledge of fiber optic theory Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite or equivalent software Preferred Skills Full knowledge of operating fiber optic splicing equipment
