The Service Estimator is a key conduit from the Field Service Technician's proper diagnosis, to the customer's quotation/proposal/solution consultation for repair & replacement. The Estimator enables quality, delivery, and growth according to Stark Tech's objectives, to help ensure service agreement growth and that timely and accurate repair quotes help turn around times, customer uptime, and revenue/profit growth. Position also leads or assists with parts research and sourcing/vendor selection. Are you the ideal candidate? The ideal candidate must have the ability to e ngage OEM's and other suppliers to help solve problems and address customer and technicians' technical concerns. Review technician work orders and clarify technician write-ups to ensure accurate repair proposals and to manage customer expectations. Assist with emergency inbound calls and routine technical inquiries. Ensure that technicians understand how to conduct parts and supplies procurement when needed. Assist parts with execution so as to fulfill customer/technician parts demand. Qualify sub-contractors and suppliers to assist with providing customers with obsolete and/or rare replacement parts in a timely and precise manner. Assist scheduling/dispatching and billing personnel with technical questions that impact the performance or efficiency of our work, or customer satisfaction. Assist service administrator with warranty paperwork filing/reports/appeals, etc. Follow up and solicit feedback/approval on pending quotes. Proactively select service bid opportunities to quote, and assist sales team with project work as needed. Assist parts department with vendors and sources for substitute/alternate or rare replacement parts as needed. Leverage industry market intelligence to assist with parts pricing to customers on projects, bids and repair quotes, as well as labor rates and repair hours estimations with the field technician staff for specific repairs. Follow up with PM's, technicians, customers and channel partners to identify areas for improvement and what worked well to enable continuous improvement. What we would love to see: High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 15 years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education (technical school) and experience. Experience in the construction or HVAC industry required including but not limited to boilers, burners, combustion controls and psychometrics (and related large repair project management) Demonstrated mastery-level knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and other building subsystems. Mastery of HVAC&R theory, solid mechanical, electrical troubleshooting and repair skills required. Ability to read wiring diagrams, mechanical layouts and blueprints required. Be highly motivated and an independent thinker. Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced setting and adapt/be flexible in a changing environment. Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required. Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with handheld devices, such as Smartphones, iPads, etc. Ability to communicate with customers and coworkers regarding inspection and service findings is required.
