Doane University, a liberal arts university in Crete, Nebraska, invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry with expertise in Biochemistry to start August 2023. Doane University, located only 25 miles away from Lincoln, Nebraska (population 292,000), serves 1,250 undergraduate students. The Chemistry and Biochemistry department offers a wide range of modern instrumentation, including a 400 MHz NMR, FTIR, GC-MS, HPLC, and a variety of Fluorescence Microscopes. Doane University supports its faculty and their ability to search for external funding. Candidates with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry or a related field starting in August 2023 are preferred. Applicants that are ABD or have a Masters in one of these fields with significant professional experience may also be considered. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in Doane's Biochemistry and General Chemistry series, including in-person laboratory instruction, as well as seminar courses in the department. The selected candidate will be expected to conduct scholarly research involving undergraduate students in their field of interest. Additional service responsibilities both for the department and for the university will be expected once the faculty member has been established. The ideal candidate will have the skills to communicate well with faculty and students and must demonstrate a commitment to teaching in an undergraduate liberal arts setting. Preferred candidates are ones with prior effective teaching and laboratory research experience, especially those suited for undergraduate student research.
