GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: The Laborer works with the team on an approximate 153 acre site to perform tasks that require mainly physical abilities and effort involving little or no specialized skill or prior work experience by performing the Job Functions as outlined below. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: PRIMARY - Escort subcontractors performing work onsite - Less than 50% of the time over a twelve-month contract period. Loads and unloads trucks and other conveyances. Trash and litter collection and disposal in grassed areas, plant and shrub beds, wooded areas, sidewalks, streets, and curbs. Moves supplies and materials to proper locations by wheelbarrow or hand truck. Stacks materials for storage or binning. Collects refuse and salvageable materials. Cleaning of buildings, restrooms, smoking stations and vehicles. Moves and arranges heavy pieces of office and household furniture, equipment and appliances. Moves heavy pieces of machinery and equipment. SECONDARY - Shovels Snow during Snow Removal Activities Spreads sand and salt on icy roads and walkways. Digs, fills, and tamps earth excavations. Levels ground using pick, shovel, tamper and rake. Cleans culverts and ditches. Cuts trees and brush. Operates power lawnmowers. Perform other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position requires no supervisor or manager responsibilities. JOB SKILLS: Ability to use and operate various commonly used small grounds keeping tools and equipment, i.e. wheelbarrow, hand truck, shovel, pick, rake and power lawnmower. Must be able to perform simple tasks independently after given specific instructions. Aptitude to work both individually and in collaborative, team-oriented environments. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) Certificate. Must have an understanding of occupational safety and health regulations. Must possess a valid driver's license and driving history must meet company standards throughout employment. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and a background check as a condition of employment and to obtain access to federal installations.
