Our Chicago NS Location is hiring several Rail Loader Supplementals- This is Part Time work however full time hours can be accomplished depending on need. We are located near 130th & Torrence and this operation is a 24/7 one so for this position we are looking for DAY SHIFT with WEEKEND and HOLIDAY AVAILABILITY. Since we are a 24/7 location- you must be available for Night Shift as needed. You must be able to learn to drive a 5 Speed Manual Transmission/Stick Shift Vehicle and this work is 100% outside in all weather. Apply today for fast consideration! Summary of Position: Prepare railcars for loading and/or unloading, driving vehicles on to and off of proper railcars, securing vehicles to railcars according to manufacturer and American Association of Railroad standards, and preparing railcars for transportation. Essential Functions, Duties & Tasks: Drive customer vehicles onto and off-of rail cars Secure customer vehicles to rail cars by using chains or chocks as required by manufactures Set-up rail car bridge plates Raise and lower rail car decks Drive vehicles off of rail cars Assist in Open/Close of rail car doors Operate loading ramps Check vehicles for damage Drive vehicles to/from staging areas Park vehicles in accordance with manufacturing and company standards Any duties as assigned Ability to work in a variety of situations Must be able to work 12+ hours per day to support our customer requirements Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: ​High School diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license Must be able to drive vehicles with either automatic or standard transmissions. Education, Experience & Minimum Requirements: Ability to write, read, and comprehend documents High School diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license: good driving record with the ability to maintain a valid driver's license Basic computer skills-beginner level skills with word processing and spreadsheet software Follow directions, both written and verbal Able to drive both standard and automatic/stick transmission automobiles (must be able to drive stick shift) Ability to adhere to strict quality and safety standards without variance Ability to interact with others effectively and work in a team environment Ability to communicate diplomatically Good visual ability Ability to read and understand MSDS-GHS (will train) Knowledge of the use of hand tools (i.e., wrenches, screw drivers, ratchets, etc.) Must have a good sense of balance Ability to work at a height approximately 20 feet above the ground Ability to lift up to 50 pounds over head multiple times per shift Ability to push, pull, or carry up to 85 pounds multiple times per shift Ability to pass Safe Driving, Rail and Buck Ramp quiz with 80%or better Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors in all weather conditions for long periods of time Ability to climb up and down railcar ladders up to 100 times per shift Ability to stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl repetitively for up to 12 hours or more per shift Ability to get in and out of vehicles driver's door with minimal door opening clearance Must pass pre-placement testing A behavior and conduct that maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner, so you get along with customers, vendors, co-workers, and management Good and regular attendance in all weather conditions Positive demeanor Must be able to obtain and maintain e-RAILSAFE clearances Must be able to work 12+ hours per day in order to support our customer requirements Ability to work all shifts Preferred Requirements: Ability to work any shift, including weekends and holidays as required. In order to qualify, you must be able to pass a drug test, eRail security clearance (criminal background) to meet our customer requirements, able to verify accurately at least one employer listed on your application, have no more than 2 motor vehicle violations within the past 12 months or no more than 3 motor vehicle violations within the past 36 months, ability to pass physical requirements for vehicle transportation, have a valid driver's license and the ability to maintain a valid driver's license, ability to pass driver safety training with a score of 80% or better, be at least 18 years of age or older.
