SLEMCO is currently accepting applications for a Power Engineer. This p osition reports to the Director of Engineering and Strategic Planning. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Engineering degree in appropriate field required. Must possess knowledge of distribution, transmission, and power supply areas of the electric utility industry. 10+ years experience required. Experience in supervising technical and engineering personnel. Should have a working knowledge and understanding of: Regional transmission organizations and independent system operators' business practices. Power engineering. Design of distribution, transmission facilities. Solar supply projects. Power purchase agreements. Capacity markets. Energy markets. Renewable Energy markets. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OBJECTIVES Provide data, reports, and recommendations to the Director of Engineering and Strategic Planning and other Departments on energy market related issues. Monitor new technology to improve system operations and energy market access. RESPONSIBILITIES Manage and monitor all power supply agreements. Provide technical assistance in areas of the transmission and power supply markets. Assist with maintaining NERC/SERC compliance. These responsibilities include annually reviewing all applicable NERC standards, documenting review and evidence of requirement measures; reviewing and documenting all new NERC standards to determine applicability to SLEMCO; annually submit requested evidence of requirement measures to NERC or MISO; prepare for and complete audits and/or surveys by NERC/SERC; and annually updating the BES Cyber System Assessment report. Monitor developments and changes in MISO. Make recommendations based on these developments or changes. Maintain and submit required reports, work orders, time sheets, invoices, etc. on a timely basis. Assist in annual process of providing net metering, feeder, and demand response data for Form EIA-861 to Accounting. All system studies, required databases, and load projections Assist Director of Engineering & Strategic Planning on any projects assigned. Fill out all necessary reports. Work with regulatory representatives in determining the applicability of new regulations and developments in technology and equipment to meet the Cooperative's current and future needs. Report any unsafe conditions of existing SLEMCO equipment to immediate supervisor. Follow Cooperative, OSHA, state, and other regulatory rules and procedures as they pertain to, but not limited to, safety in the workplace. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Knowledge of the transmission system/bulk electric system. Must be able to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Must be knowledgeable in the areas of line construction, maintenance of lines, substation construction and maintenance and other technical areas of electrical distribution and transmission. Must have knowledge of the design and operation of distribution, transmission, and generation facilities. Must be a registered engineer in the state of Louisiana or have the ability to become a registered engineer in the state of Louisiana in 12 months. Job Posted by ApplicantPro
