Your Accountabilities: Creates and develops the Casting manufacturing processes to continuously improve and enhance Casting process, quality, and reduce scrap, while staying within the budget and timelines. Collaborates with the Tooling Design Engineer on developing Casting design and processes, analyzing Casting simulation flow, and determining directional solidification to meet mechanical properties. Researches new methods and troubleshoots current methods to improve the Casting process, benchmarking against industry standards and works with suppliers to improve their products to ensure quality and output goals are met. Develops, revises, and documents work instructions based on new or current Casting processes ensuring they have been reviewed and validated to meet quality standards and production efficiency goals. Provides education and training to operators on new or revised Casting processes in a way that is easy to understand and will develop operational efficiencies. Develops and launches new Casting programs, sampling, and the related processes, staying within the budget and timelines, to continuously enhance operational effectiveness. Works with customers on new Casting design changes to meet customer satisfaction. Reviews and analyzes scrap data to determine cause and develops corrective actions to drive improvement and follows through on actions to close issues while minimize waste of materials. Position Requirements: Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Industrial or Mechanical) or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Experience: 5+ years of progressive "hands-on" experience in the development, implementation, and training of manufacturing processes within a metal casting manufacturing environment. Certification(s): N/A Functional Skills: Successful incumbents will be agile/flexible and able to work in an environment that is a startup organization with processes changing daily. Ability to be hands-on (ie. on the plant floor) involved in various production activities to collect data on processes and analyze information to create/develop best practice solutions. Excellent planning, prioritizing, and organizational skills. Detail-oriented and thorough. Also requires solid math, analytical, and problem-solving skills to effectively enhance the manufacturing areas. Prior Six-Sigma experience helpful. Technology Aptitude/Skills: Excellent PC skills, strong MS Office skills, ERP, CAD, design software experience helpful. Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, strong ability to create/write work instructions and train others. Reports To: Operations Manager Core Hours: Day Shift Work Conditions: The employee is regularly exposed to a manufacturing environment with moderate to loud noise. The employee is regularly required to wear suitable Personal Protective Equipment such as slip on, inner, metatarsal safety-toed shoes, face shield, helmet, safety glasses, hard hat, and ear plugs. The employee is frequently exposed to hot areas, moving mechanical parts, and exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The environmental climate is heated in the winter and hot in the summer.
