Blast Operator - 2nd Shift

Harrison Steel has an opening on second shift (3p-11:30p) in its finishing operations for a Monorail Blast Operator. Blasting is an essential part of our operation to clean any dirt, scale, rust, oil, or slag from the exterior of a casting and allows other operations to transform the steel to meet our customers' requirements. This position operates our critical blast equipment to clean dirt, scale, and core materials from steel castings with blasts of steel shot. Normal operations involve safely loading and unloading castings on a trolley hoist, operating the blast equipment, cleaning residual steel pellets left in the casting, and filling out a report on castings blasted. As this position is on second shift, this employee will also be required to drive a fork lift (active driver's license is required). Other duties can be assigned, and we encourage cross-training for all of our team members. Work Environment: The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, extreme heat and fumes or airborne particles, and is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. Also exposure to outdoor weather conditions, non-weather related extreme cold, water and humidity, and the risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places. The usual noise level is very loud. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
