ASSISTANT GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT IN TRAINING (AIT) About the Position This position will have the responsibility of providing exceptional golf courses for Grey Oaks' Members and guests. The AIT reports directly to the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent and operates under direction and participation in the day-to-day maintenance and agronomic practices. The position is designed to increase the team members knowledge, skills, and abilities in their career in turf. About Grey Oaks Country Club Considered one of the premier Country Clubs in Florida, Grey Oaks opened in 1993 and encompasses the Grey Oaks and Estuary communities, along with 54 holes of championship golf. The Club's facilities include a 63,000-square-foot east clubhouse, 12,000-square-foot golf pro shop, golf performance center, 30,000-square-foot wellness center, sports center, and the pool café, a 22,000-square-foot complex with indoor and outdoor dining overlooking an expansive resort-style pool with a wading entrance, waterfall, and lap lanes. Primary Responsibilities Under the mentoring and direction of the Assistant Golf Superintendent, you will; Participate in the long- and short-term planning related to golf course renovations, care & maintenance Lead the team by delegating daily assignments; provide guidance and assistance and ensure work is completed as expected and in a timely manner Lead projects related to course renovations or repairs Assist in the training of new and existing staff in golf course set-up and maintenance, equipment operations, safety procedures and the expectations of the Club Identify, evaluate, and recommend corrective action for agronomic problem areas Assist in the daily set-up and maintenance of the golf course, including routine golf course maintenance, chemical applications, and equipment operations All other duties as assigned by management Education/Experience 2+ years' experience in the maintenance of golf course tees, fairways, greens; the seeding and maintenance practices for golf course turf. Understands the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners, herbicides and pest control methods and materials Currently enrolled or graduated from a two or four-year Turfgrass Management program, certificate program, or related field or enroll within 6 months post-employment. Interested in pursuing a Pesticide Applicator License for the state of Florida, or the ability to obtain one within 6 - 12 months post-employment Experience working at golf courses at private clubs or at high end resorts strongly desired Compensation & Benefits Grey Oaks has an attractive compensation, benefits program, 401k plan with a generous matching contribution, a great work environment and the opportunity to work and learn from some of the best in the industry.
