APT Research is hiring a Sr. System Safety Engineer to support our current Huntsville, AL operations. We are looking for someone to work remote. This position performs system safety engineering, to include: Perform system safety engineering activities, to include tasks focused on development of system safety analysis by identifying, documenting, and tracking system hazard. Coordinates, develops, and executes comprehensive technical data packages and Safety Assessment Reports (SARs). Conducts safety analyses such as: Preliminary Hazard List Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHL/PHA), Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA), System Hazard Analysis (SHA), Operating and Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA), Health Hazard Assessment (HHA), System Requirement Hazard Analysis (SRHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Supports various safety boards and technical panels. Understands the elements of system safety engineering to include hazard analyses, hazard categorization, end effects, causal analyses, mitigation requirements identification, documentation, tracking and implementing, and residual risk assessment Develops documents as required to support customer and test, operational, or range requirements Performs audits of operational areas and reports effectiveness of the System Safety program. Performs minimal safety program management tasks including progress reports and tracking schedules. Ancillary duties may include tasks associated with environmental safety and health, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene, human factors, reliability engineering, explosive safety, directed energy (laser) safety, and/or test range safety. Required Minimum Education/Experience: Education: Candidate must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree. Experience: Candidate must have 7+ years of relevant technical experience in a related field. Familiar with executing technical data packages. Develop system safety analysis and have good knowledge of System Safety fundamentals. Good verbal and written communication skills. Able to work with limited supervision. Ability to prepare high level technical reviews and presentations. The applicant must demonstrate familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Candidate must have proven leadership skills with the ability to affect outcomes including the ability to persuade on technical topics. Desired or Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Background knowledge of the Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board (WSESRB) and its Technical Panels, Laser Safety Review Board, and Department of Defense and the Department of Navy Insensitive Munitions Reviews. Knowledge of MIL-STD-882E, AR700-142, and AMCOM 385-17 Prior related experience with Government or Military programs Familiarity with Software Hazard Analyses Security Clearance Requirement: An active Secret clearance (or higher), or the ability to get and maintain a Secret clearance is required. Essential Functions Work Environment: Office environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Physical Requirements Requires sitting for extended periods of time (100%).
