The Coker University Department of Humanities and Social Sciences is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Sociology and Program Coordinator of the online Sociology Program beginning August 2023. This is a 9-month, tenure-track position with competitive salary and benefits. This position reports to the Dean of the College of Humanities and Sciences. Preferred qualifications include an earned doctorate in Sociology with at least 18 hours in criminology; ABD and Master's degree will be considered. Coordinator responsibilities include curriculum revision, program assessment, and course scheduling. Teaching responsibilities include a wide variety of courses in Sociology and potentially Criminology with both face-to-face and online teaching assignments at the undergraduate level (credentialing preferred for online teaching); opportunities for hybrid teaching possible. The University is seeking individuals who are passionate about teaching, inclusive pedagogy, and encouraging all students to succeed; dedicated to working with students in classroom and research-based settings; dedicated to developing meaningful, collegial working relationships with students, faculty, and staff across campus; eager to contribute interests and ideas for new and innovative courses and multidisciplinary programs; and committed to actively contributing to Coker's mission.
