Education Specialist/RSP Teacher

Description:
Position purpose: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Special Education and School Director, the Special Education Advisor provides instructional support for students with disabilities as identified in their Individualized Education Programs. Duties/Responsibilities/Functions/Tasks Provide support for the instructional program for students with special needs Provide pertinent information and consult services to staff members and parents Maintain on-going student assessments and evaluations Instruct in all content areas of the individualized education program Use evidence-supported strategies and interventions Deliver direct service to students with special needs Document services, monitor, and report student progress towards goals and learning objectives using both qualitative and quantitative data. Collaborate with General Ed Advisors and other Service Providers to: ○ Personalize student learning through differentiation and scaffolding of curriculum ○ Ensure that services, supports and accommodations are in place in the student's learning environment ○ Support students struggling with behavioral, social emotional, self-help and executive functioning needs through the development, implementation and monitoring of individual programs. Participate during IEP meetings. Develop individualized educational programs for the purpose of meeting the individual needs of students with special needs Special Position Requirements Understanding of Special Education law and compliance K-5 core curriculum content Experience with a variety of appropriate assessment tools to identify students with special needs ● Knowledge on how to implement an integrated instructional program How to write effective, meaningful student goals and objectives Appropriate options of delivery methods and services How to coordinate services with the general education classroom and program ● Appropriate accommodations/modifications and interventions of general education curriculum ● Due process rights and procedures Effective interpersonal communication techniques Ability: Coordinate services with the general education advisor and work with core curriculum ● Administer a variety of assessments Plan for effective, meaningful integration of student instruction Implement curriculum that addresses student goals and objectives Deliver methods and services to match specific student needs Develop and implement accommodation, modification, and intervention strategies ● Document necessary federal and state due process rights and procedures ● Use data to track student progress towards goals Skills: Coordinate curricular areas to help establish an integrated program for each student ● Conduct on-going evaluation of student goals and objectives Evaluate effectiveness of strategies and techniques used and adjust instruction and delivery as needed Collaborate with general education advisors and service providers to develop and maintain on-going communication of students with special needs Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree HQT Preferences: Education Specialist Credential (M/M or M/S) with Autism Spectrum Disorder and EL Added Authorizations. For applicants interested in working at the High School, verification of single subject competence. At minimum: the ability to enroll in an Intern program leading to an Education Specialist credential. Personalized Mastery Learning experience in a K-12 setting (desired) Effective communicator and writing skills for a variety of audiences Collaborative team player, creative thinker and problem solver Work Requirements: Ability to sit through meetings lasting 3-6 hours
