Summary: Under the supervision of the Director, the Education & Disability Specialist will coordinate the educational goals and objectives of the Early Head Start Performance Standards by providing educational leadership to teachers. Plan, develop, monitor curriculum implementation and monitor EHS education staff. Also coordinate special education services for children in the center. Essential Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Establishes and maintains good working relationship with Ibero staff, staff from related agencies, community representative and parents Assist EHS teachers prepares environment to enhance cognitive, social, emotional and physical development for young children Monitors EHS staff educational timeline and ensures work is completed in a timely manner. Monitors EHS staff assessments, lesson plans, home visits and parent teacher conferences Provides EHS Teacher technical assistance and best practices strategies Supervises the EHS Teachers performance, time and attendance as well as entry into the ChildPlus Data Base, Seesaw and Ready Rosie. Ability to provide monthly training to EHS education staff on professional development based on staff needs and seeks appropriate coverage when unable to provide a training topic. Monitors, Coordinate and Assist with all special education services, which includes assisting parents, attending meetings, advocating for children and families and providing monthly reports on services provided. Enters and maintain ChildPlus disability services information up to date. Follows Ibero's daycare policies and procedures, NYS regulations and EHS standards Communicates concerns to Director regarding absenteeism, health, suspicion of child abuse, neglect and/or maltreatment, developmental delays or inappropriate behavior among the children Prepares reports as requested Completes all work in a timely manner Attends scheduled staff meetings, parent meetings training's and center events as assigned Keeps knowledge of children and families confidential Continues to develop professionally Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor Authority: This position holds a relatively high degree of independence within the framework of the agency's policies and procedures. The individual must be resourceful and able to display initiative and decision making regarding classroom activities. Education & Experience: Must have at minimum a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education 0-5 and/or Special Education. Twelve Credits in Early Childhood Education Three to five years teaching in early childhood education, two years monitoring classroom teachers, and one year working with low income families and children with disabilities preferred. Bilingual (Spanish-English) required . Ability to perform all physical duties required by the supervision of the young child such as walking, running. jumping, skipping, hopping, stooping. squatting, bending, lifting (up to 40 pounds). reaching and climbing stairs, etc. Valid NYS license and access to own transportation. Must obtain a physical exam w/TB test, fingerprinting, and State Clearance Must be COVID vaccinated A combination of training and experience other than the specified, if judged to be adequate for the job, may be accepted by the President and CEO Physical Demands: The position does require occasional standing, squatting, lifting of up to approximately 40 lbs. and frequent sitting.
