Athletic Fields Groundskeeper

Viterbo is looking to hire a part-time, seasonal position responsible for maintaining grounds and turf for all Viterbo athletic fields. Daytime hours will typically average 20 hours per week, not exceeding 29 hours per week. Responsibilities: Responsible for athletic field maintenance and grounds operations. Oversees the care and maintenance of the turf, shrubs, trees, plants, and wetlands on the facility grounds. Manages irrigation systems and water management for all fields Works closely with outdoor facilities manager on any issues related to field preparation and maintenance. Responsible for proper and safe operation and maintenance of mechanical and power equipment. Schedules field preparation around team use and needs to minimize disruption. Works closely with the Physical Plant staff groundskeeper in a professional manner. Meets and communicates regularly without outdoor coaches regarding facility upkeep Oversight of general appearance of complex including fields, fences, buildings, parking lot, scoreboards, etc. Support and adhere to all institutional policies outlined in the employee handbook. Carry out other responsibilities assigned by the Director of Athletics. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Related work experience and knowledge in grounds care or turf management. Experience using and maintaining power mowers, trimmers, and other power tools and equipment. Ability to schedule and monitor irrigation, aeration, drainage, and other turf management applications. Must be able to perform light maintenance such as painting, removing garbage, and minor repairs. Must be able to work independently, be a self-starter, and willingness to work flexible hours. Must meet physical demands of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crawling, climbing, and light lifting. Certificate or degree in turf management or a related field like agronomy, horticulture, plant science, soil science is desirable, but not required. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
