Sr. Aeromechanical Engineer works to solve the nations hardest problems though rapidly deployed technology solutions. Are you an aerospace or mechanical engineer stuck in a narrow job? This job is a lead aeromechanical engineer that takes napkin sketches of airplanes and robots to final production. We work with small teams to move fast and make fielded systems. Here you will lead a small agile team to make these systems a reality from napkin sketch to 1.0 prototype. Position Responsibilities: Senior role within engineering team that helps lead in the design and development of UAS products and subsystems. Opportunity to build and tests prototype systems to validate designs Have decision making abilities of design challenges and coordination with multidisciplinary engineering groups Performance of all vehicle design from initial concept to complete production-ready design Conduct presentations (Formal and Informal) on designs. Uses scientific and engineering principals to assess deficiencies in any given design and the impact of potential changes Makes complex decisions to meet stated and derived requirements Complete assigned tasks within project schedule and budget Provides guidance and mentorship to others in both their discipline and on company values Conduct FEA and CFD simulation analysis on aircraft and powerplants Design airframes and other aeromechanical parts Act as an interface to customers as ideas are communicated Up to 10% Travel Position Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Minimum of 8+ years of experience in a progressive technical capacity within an engineering organization Demonstrated competence in Mechanical Engineering processes and design/analysis tools, solving Mechanics & Kinematics problems, solving Thermodynamics problems Experienced in successfully designing mil-y electronics products Demonstrated understanding of metallic, plastic and composite material properties Demonstrated ability to solve basic structural dynamics problems Proficiency in SolidWorks, Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required Demonstrated understanding of industry design and documentation standards (GD&T, ASME, Change Control, etc.) Experienced with designing: machined parts, composite parts, injection molded parts, sheet metal parts, wire assemblies and mechanical assemblies for low, medium and high volume manufacturing processes Experienced with: mechanical, lab, field, flight, and environmental testing Demonstrated understanding of engineering configuration management processes Demonstrated ability to work with high-level program requirements, organize, schedule and delegate tasks to an engineering team Demonstrated leadership experience Periods of development may require long irregular hours around deadlines, weekends and some holidays and in field test environments Current Secret DoD clearance; will need to upgrade to a TS/SCI upon hiring
