About the Thomas Jefferson Foundation The Thomas Jefferson Foundation has a twofold mission of preservation and education, and was incorporated in 1923 to preserve Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson, in Charlottesville, Virginia. Today, the Foundation seeks to bring history forward into national and global dialogues by engaging audiences with Jefferson's world and ideas, and sharing the history of everyone, enslaved and free, who lived and labored at Monticello. Monticello is recognized as a National Historic Landmark, a United Nations World Heritage Site and a Site of Conscience. Events Intern (paid, part-time) The Events Team is a fast-paced, highly organized and dedicated group of talented planners who manage the logistics and on-site details of signature public events, donor events and private events for The Thomas Jefferson Foundation. Our summer interns gain significant event experience including concept development, budgeting, planning, execution and evaluation. They work collaboratively across Thomas Jefferson Foundation departments to create meaningful and memorable events and programs for various audiences. A few of the special events include, the Juneteenth commemorative events, July 4th Naturalization Ceremony and Celebration, and the Monticello Teachers Institute events. Internship length is 12 weeks, 2 0-28 hrs/wk, and typically May 15th - August 4th (willing to adjust start date as needed to accommodate final exams and graduation).
