LC State invites applications for the position of Advisor.Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $42,453 to $44,000 Degree Required: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university Required Qualifications: Two years experience in career guidance, advising, or related field; Excellent written, interpersonal, presentation, and verbal communication skills; Excellent organizational and time management skills; Familiarity with resources needed for success in college; Proficiency using large databases and Microsoft Office products; and Professional demeanor and work ethic. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Higher Education, Career Guidance, Counseling, Social Work or related field; Working knowledge of career/major exploration and decision-making; Experience working in college or university advising; and Competency using Ellucian Colleague. Responsibilities: LC State Academic AdvisorUnder the direct supervision of the Senior Director of Academic Advising, this position is part of an advising team that provides academic advising services and related support to LC State students during their initial semesters of matriculation. The responsibilities of the Advisor lie primarily in the areas of academic and career planning, academic success and support, and activities focused on student retention. Contact may be on an individual or group basis or be made by correspondence. The advisor is responsible for providing support in all department areas of responsibility with particular emphasis on advising and at-risk student support. The advisor advises a substantial number of academic freshmen through their initial semester(s). The position also has specific responsibility for Career and Technical Education (CTE) student advising and direct communication with CTE faculty and staff regarding program information used to advise CTE students during their initial registration.
