System Planning Engineer in Vermont

Green Mountain Power is seeking a System Planning Engineer to join our Engineering Team. This position is primarily responsible for the efficient, innovative, and resilient short-term and long-term planning of the GMP Transmission and Distribution electric system with a significant focus on the growth of electrification while we transition off fossil fuels. This can include developing and analyzing computer modeling. Will also work with third parties to perform these studies as well. An important function in this role is to utilize innovation technology and solutions to design a more flexible and resilient grid. This includes leveraging flexible electric loads such as smart EV charging and battery energy storage. This position will support Grid Operations with system analysis for planned outages and contingency situations. The successful applicant will be responsible in providing support and technical review of Feasibility and System Impact Studies for interconnection of distributed energy resources on the subtransmission system in coordination with ISO-NE. This role will also support various regulatory requirements such as rulemaking for distributed generation interconnection and plays a key function in the development of the GMP Integrated Resource Plan. This position will support the development of the Engineering capital budget and be responsible for the development of testimony for state regulatory filings to support the need for new Substation and Transmission line projects. You will work under general supervision and in compliance with established policies, procedures, and regulations while also proposing new creative solutions. This position requires a high degree of self-motivation, incredible communication skills, ability to work independently, safely, and the ability to meet goals and deadlines. Qualifications include a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of three years' experience in Transmission and Distribution Planning or related utility experience. Preferably including experience with CYME or PSSE load flow and Microsoft Office software.
