Job Summary : Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Radiologic Technologist operates computerized and manual radiological equipment for diagnostic purposes. As a team member, the Radiologic Technologist will demonstrate knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the staff, patients, families and visitors of all age groups, while being sensitive to their culture and religious beliefs. Job Responsibilities : Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging procedures. Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician. Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation. Moves imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy. Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control. Train and assist staff on the various positions for diagnostic imaging procedures. Train and assist staff on how to adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician. Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies and maintain instruments as necessary Interviews patients, measure vital signs, including height, weight & BMI, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, allergies, review medication lists and document correct information in electronic medical record Explains procedures and safety precautions to staff accurately Demonstrate flexibility in job duties Demonstrate appropriate documentation in the EMR/EPIC Demonstrate the knowledge to operate clinical equipment Effectively communicates with the provider and other staff Adheres to infection-control policies using universal precautions at all times and PPE as appropriate Keep adequate supplies on hand Understand the importance of patient confidentiality Maintains prompt and regular attendance Verify timecard at the end of each pay period Performs related work, as assigned Job Requirements : Valid ARRT and/or state x-ray license is required One year of x-ray tech work experience preferred Current CPR Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association Basic knowledge of clinical operations Demonstrates skills in written and oral communication Ability to comprehend and perform duties with minimal supervision Ability to prioritize work and accept constructive criticism Ability to prepare reports and follow-up as necessary Basic computer and typing skills Some experience in a business/clerical related field Basic knowledge of record keeping and filing systems Good written and oral communications skills in order to assist patients with necessary forms Ability to multi-task while demonstrating a positive professional attitude Physical and Other Requirements : Ability to continuously listen, visualize, have dexterity and eye-hand coordination, ability for simple grasping and speed work Ability to frequently stand, squat, reach, use both right and left forearm rotation and walk Show a dedication to duty, including a willingness to travel and work extended hours as necessary Occasionally kneel, twist, have ability to grasp firmly, lift and carry, push and pull in excess of 10 lbs.
