Position Summary The SBA Credit Analyst will primarily review and analyze SBA 504 & 7a loans. The SBA analyst will analyze credit data and financial statements of companies and individuals to determine the creditworthiness of borrowers and their ability to repay. Essential Functions Analyze credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit through the SBA 504 and 7a loan programs Interpretation and application of SBA Standard Operating Procedure. Occasionally, the analyst will be required to analyze commercial loans and generate financial ratios to evaluate customers' financial status and ability to repay loans. Prepare loan write-ups for new and renewing loans, including assigning relevant risk rating. Order reports such as credit bureau reports, appraisals, environmental assessments. Assemble and organize loan packages from the time a loan enters underwriting until the loan file is complete and sent to the closing department. Consult with loan officers, customers, and other credit administration staff to verify and/or obtain financial information necessary to process the loan request. Monitors and updates SBA pipeline and throughput. Additional Functions Complete special projects at the direction of the Chief Credit Officer or the Senior Credit Officer. Job Requirements and Qualifications Job requires strict attention to detail and thoroughness in the completion of job duties. Job requires thorough analysis of information and use of logic to address complexity of data and information. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business. Minimum two (2) years of SBA credit analysis or underwriting experience at a commercial bank, credit union or similar financial institution. (Position must have been within the last five years.) Licenses and Certifications N/A Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of SBA eligibility requirements and SOP's. Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data. Knowledge of Abrigo software, a plus. Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including proficiency in Word and Excel. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret legal documents, governmental regulations, and professional publications. Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from senior management, attorneys, vendors, government agents, and the general public. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to work independently with little supervision. Physical Requirements Ability to sit for long periods of time up to 75% of work hours. Ability to use hands to grasp, handle or feel. Ability use computer keyboard and system to enter data and process information. Ability to talk, hear, and see. Ability to use telephone to communicate with customers and employees. Ability to use office equipment such as teller scanner, personal computer, telephone, Blackberry, copier, fax machine, adding machine, etc. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. less than 10% of work hours. Working Conditions Moderate sound as in business office with office machines, computers, and people traffic. Open floor work environment.
