We have an exciting opportunity for a Facilities Mechanical Engineer to join our team with JETS II Teammate company, Nexus Solutions. As a Facility Maintenance Engineer, you will: Support Johnson Space Center's activities in support of NASA Crew and Thermal Systems Division (CTSD/EC). Maintain and establish strategic maintenance planning of critical systems and infrastructure. Plan and coordinate the maintenance reliability and readiness of critical support facility systems and their subcomponents. Work in a team environment to interpret requirements from the customer and develop design solutions, prepare cost estimates and schedule. Design, develop, test, implement, and analyze technical products and systems. Produce engineering drawings conforming to JPR 8500 and other applicable standards. AutoCad based. Work with JSC Pressure Systems personnel to complete Pressure Systems Design Reviews. Planning and coordinating infrastructure and equipment maintenance schedules and activities. Prepare work authorizing documents (WADs) required to maintain critical support systems required to operate human and non-human rated thermal vacuum chambers. Apply engineering principles and techniques to create solutions to equipment, building, and infrastructure challenges. Prepare engineering specifications, statements of work, and estimates for a wide range of facility related projects. Develop technical specifications and Statement of Works (SOW) submit & track all phases of procurements, inspections, fabrication & installation into the facility and space simulations chambers. Familiarization with Cryogenic, High-Vacuum and High-Pressure Systems and their subcomponents. Support, coordinate and work with counterpart Mechanical Engineers to complete detailed fabrication drawings. Express good leadership qualities be highly motivated, well organized, and capable of working within a closely-knit team. Must have the ability to work independently and to interact with and report to senior engineering for assignments, guidance, and support. Prepare monthly maintenance progress reports. Perform other duties as required. ​ Qualifications Requisition Qualifications: This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised. Requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2- 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Experience / Knowledge managing with the upkeep of equipment (pumps, motors, blowers, valves, etc.) related to facility maintenance. Ability to coordinate with a multi-disciplinary team to trouble-shoot facility problems and determine appropriate corrective actions. Must have a proven record of accomplishment of overcoming facility technical problems and independently identifying and resolving. Must have a proven track record of overcoming technical obstacles and independently identifying and resolving conflicts. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision. Ability to respond well to the demands of working in a Thermal Vacuum Testing facility environment. Maintain configuration control for all facility systems. (i.e. Compressed air, chilled cooling tower, vacuum, Liquid Nitrogen, Nitrogen and Helium Systems). Experienced in the following: MS Office Suite and AutoCAD is a must. Ability to interpret and modify process and instrumentation drawings (P&ID). Knowledgeable in Vacuum blowers, Vacuum mechanical pumps, Cooling Towers, Liquid Nitrogen Storage vessels and associated piping. Understand and follow a Microsoft Project schedule. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Requisition Preferences: Familiarization with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures. Project management skills is a plus. Experience with NASA's Pressure Systems Manual, JPR 1710.13 is a plus. Familiarity with ASME BPVC VIII, ASME B31.3 Piping Code, Uniform building code, NFPA and OSHA requirements. Presentation skills are highly desired. Inventor, Creo or other similar CAD Software package is preferred. Fire Hazards in Oxygen Systems Training Environmental, Health & Safety Requirements: Individual may be required to climb ladders and/or work in Confined Spaces. Individual may be required to work in Oxygen Deficiency Hazard areas. Individual may be required to work in High Noise environment.
