The EHS Manager will support the business through key EHS priorities and initiatives, including, but not limited to: creating and being committed to a safety and environmental culture of excellence; assessing current safety state and identifying opportunities to improve overall safety and environmental performance; ensuring policy and procedure development and implementation; assessing the need for, developing and implementing programs and initiatives to affect safety and environmental behavior and performance consistent with business objectives; leading efforts to thoroughly investigate safety incidents, determine contributing and root causes, and implement corrective actions; identifying the need for and developing necessary and required training to ensure safety and environmental compliance and achievement of business objectives, orientation, annual, periodic and otherwise; tracking and assessing safety performance, results, and trends through data and analysis; overseeing and ensuring accurate and reliable safety and environmental reporting as required legally and consistent with established policies and procedures; developing and overseeing regular reporting on safety performance, progress, and trends, locally, across the business, to plant management and executive leadership. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with plant management and executive leadership to establish, develop, maintain, and periodically update company environmental, health and safety expectations, requirements, goals, and objectives. Devise comprehensive plans, approaches, and methods to ensure the development and maintenance of an environmental, health, and safety culture of excellence consistent with established objectives. Regularly assess current safety and environmental state through audit, evaluation and otherwise and determine and prioritize efforts and initiatives to advance safety and environmental state and performance consistent with established business objectives. Assess safety and environmental plans, programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes and rules. Develop and implement strategies and processes to develop, enhance, and/or implement safety and environmental plans, programs, policies, and procedures to drive and achieve required compliance and established business objectives and goals. Identify opportunities to ensure compliance with existing safety and environmental plans, programs, policies, and procedures through observation, audit, and otherwise. Identify the need for, draft, update, and implement necessary and adequate training for employees at all levels on safety and environmental matters: orientation, annual, periodic, etc.; and ensure and maintain adequate documentation of same. Devise methods to periodically review and assess training effectiveness and employee conformity to safety and environmental policies and procedures through inspections, observations, audits, and other reliable means. Ensure and oversee thorough accident/incident investigations to determine contributing and root causes and identify and implement appropriate corrective actions. Devise methods of ensuring sustained correction and improvement. Assist in the management of the Workers' Compensation program at the local facility and across the business including claim reporting, management, and return to work efforts. Review and analyze safety performance as illustrated through audit reports, observation documentation, accident reports, statistics, and otherwise. Identify safety trends, issues and opportunities and prepare and distribute reports and summaries of the same to appropriate audiences in an effort to drive and track safety performance and improvement. Act as the initial contact in assigned plant for regulatory communications, initiatives, compliance, and enforcement actions. Ensure all required plant facility environmental monitoring reports are timely completed and forwarded to the proper agency. Oversee and maintain required safety reporting and records. Other duties and responsibilities to drive safety and environmental performance, culture and results as needed. COMPETENCIES: In depth knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations Computer skills sufficient to efficiently perform the job requirements - Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint Strong analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills. Outstanding attention to detail, organization, and time management skills Excellent communication skills, including presentation and delivery skills and an ability to effectively communicate at all levels Self-motivated with an ability to continually drive for effective results QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Safety Management, Health, Environmental, Industrial Engineering or related field 7+ years of EHS experience in a heavy manufacturing industry Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining a comprehensive safety program Demonstrated experience leading, teaching, and influencing the behavior of employees at all levels (shop floor, front line management, upper management, etc.) This job description does not comprise an exhaustive list of all functions that employee may be required to perform, and the employee may be required to perform additional functions.
