Linfield University is recruiting for an experienced professional to join the team as an Instructional Technology Specialist. The Instructional Technology Specialist will report to the Director of Online and Continuing Education with a dotted line of supervision to the Chief Information Officer. The Instructional Technology Specialist is responsible for assisting faculty in the use of technology to support excellence in teaching and learning. This position will work with faculty teaching face-to-face, blended, and fully online to enhance instruction using synchronous and asynchronous delivery approaches. This position will work primarily with faculty to determine the best use of technology in each disciplinary area, and seek input from faculty, staff, and administrators on emerging needs. The Instructional Technology Specialist must possess a solid understanding of academic technologies and trends, be a progressive thinker, and understand emerging instructional technology trends and advancements. Temporary or permanent on-campus workspace will be allocated based on your work schedule. You will generally be expected to work Monday through Friday 8 AM-5 PM PST. Primary Duties and Responsibilities : Provide guidance and feedback on best practices for effective use of technology. Support faculty in their use of the Learning Management System (LMS) to apply basic and advanced features offered on the platform. Support faculty in the setup and management of tests and exams within the Learning Management S ystem (LMS). Support faculty in their use of lockdown browsers for testing. Support faculty in the use of exam proctoring solutions for online and hybrid courses. Support faculty in the use of the Qualtrics course evaluation solution. Develop and maintain documentation and support for instructional technology platforms. Facilitate the ongoing adoption and effective use of synchronous and asynchronous tools for course delivery. Create training resources and job aides for faculty. Create one-on-one trainings and workshops on the application of key learning technology. Collaborate with the University's Learning Support Services to share best practices and stay informed regarding accessibility and accommodations. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Education, or a related field. Experience: 3 to 5 years of related experience. Knowledge of current educational technology practices, emerging trends, and student‐centered learning. Experience with web conferencing, lecture capture, graphics software, and mobile applications. Extensive knowledge of learning management systems. Experience with Windows, Mac, iOS and Android platforms. Proficient with Office 365 apps. Proficient in the creation of online support materials. Knowledge of ADA compliance and accessibility issues. Familiarity with Open Educational Resources (OERs) and knowledge of copyright regulations and intellectual property concepts as they relate to the academic environment. Proficiency in Zoom and/or Microsoft Teams for collaboration and meetings. Ability to interact with faculty, staff, and students in a professional and courteous manner during problem resolution. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience translating technical information/instructions into "plain language" instructions.
