Scientific Drilling is accepting online applications for the position of Electronic Engineering Technician located in Paso Robles, California. Duties & Responsibilities Perform operational maintenance and testing of electronic products, components, equipment and systems using knowledge of electronic theory and application principles. Assist in the design of electronic circuits and components for use in down-hole drilling and production logging applications where tools must function to 150C+ temperatures and survive a high vibration environment. Develop and modify testing procedures for electronic signal processing algorithms and implement these through selected hardware and firmware. Utilize apparatus and procedures to test electronic components, circuits and systems. Prepare engineering schematics and specifications for product and systems operation. Integrate electronic design and structure into the Company's new or existing systems Address customer and field service reliability and safety issues with timely engineering analysis and design solutions. Adhere to and improve safety standards. Evaluate failed system scenarios and determine root-cause in conformance with the Quality Management System (QMS). Provide engineering support to manufacturing, production, and purchasing. Collaborate with engineers, project managers, customers, vendors or other business partners on engineering projects. Assist with written procedures and process documentation. Travel domestically or internationally may be required, up to 25%. Manage work station and practice good housekeeping techniques. Pursue every job with drive and determination. Use logic to solve problems with effective solutions Skills Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design, development, test and production of products. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, principles of production, schematics, drawings and SPICE modeling. Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software. Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications. Knowledge of low frequency (DC-100kHz) analog signal conditioning. Knowledge of analog and digital sensors. Knowledge of low power design and microprocessor interfacing. Knowledge of 8051 and ARM based embedded controller applications, peripherals and support circuitry. Knowledge of 12-24bit ADC, DAC, analog MUX applications and support circuitry. Knowledge of DC-DC converter design, including magnetics design applications and support circuitry. Ability to work in fast paced and results driven environment. Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask. Good organizational and communication skills. Ability to meet all SDI/ATC safety requirements. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to read, communicate, and understand the English language. Ability to communicate effectively with managers and peers, both written and verbally. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results. Ability to be a team player/builder. Must be tactful and able to resolve disputes between departments and settle personnel issues. Education, Experience, Certification Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering or other related Engineering discipline Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Experience in MATLAB and LabVIEW preferred. Experience with LVDT's, accelerometers, magnetometers, pressure sensors or radiation sensors preferred. Experience with high voltage power supplies, sensor calibration, motor driven circuit design and solenoid valve driver design preferred. Experience with Schematic Capture and PCB layout (Altium software) preferred. Experience with harsh environment electronic circuit design and application including high temp (150C+) and high vibration a plus.
