Job Description Camp -Support Counselor (Daytime) SUPERVISOR: Assistant Director DEPARTMENT: Camp FLSA STATUS: Seasonal LAST UPDATED: 01/19/2023 LEADERSHIP SUMMARY The Camp Support Counselor (Daytime) will infuse and model the Girl Scout Law into their everyday work to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. POSITION SUMMARY The Camp Support Counselor (Daytime) supports unit leaders and unit counselors in the guidance and supervision of campers from 1st grade to 12th grade and supports the camp asst. director and director as needed. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES Moves between units, as assigned, providing supervision and support Leads and participates in songs, games, and other activities Ensures campers complete kapers Completes daily and weekly documentation Attends virtual training and day-long in-person training Attends staff meetings Actively engages with campers and participates in camp activities Follows camp rules and policies Maintains a positive attitude and professionalism with campers, parents, volunteers, and staff SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITIES Staff: NONE Committee(s): NONE CULTURAL EXPECTATIONS E mpathy - Approaches others with a service mindset. KNOWLEDGE AND CREDENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS Required Experience working with youth preferred Knowledge of Girl Scout Leadership Experience preferred First Aid and CPR certification preferred ABILITY AND SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS Membership with GSUSA and subscribes to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement Demonstrate ability to successfully manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines. Strong human relations skills and ability to work well with others of diverse cultures Ability to exercise good judgment Excellent written and oral communication skills Solution-driven with the ability to effectively problem solve Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds Ability to bend, stoop, and sit for extended periods Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures for extended periods SCHEDULE AND LODGING Scheduled between 9am-6pm; Monday-Friday The position does not live on site The above job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees and should not be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required.
