Camp Settoga Care Team Specialist (multiple openings) Camp Settoga is looking for empathetic and hardworking individuals to join our Care Team this summer! Under the supervision of the Care Team Director, the Care Team Specialist will be assigned to work with one Unit (age division) to support the social-emotional well-being of those campers and counselors. This is a wonderful opportunity for those who are looking to enhance their clinical skills in working with children and young adults while also being part of an energetic and amazing community. We are looking for individuals who have or are working towards a masters degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or other relevant education and can commit to spending eight weeks at camp. Responsibilities: Review relevant camper forms prior to staff orientation and have a strong understanding of individual campers' strengths, needs, and challenges. Partner with counselors, specialists, and Unit Head to meet the individual needs of all campers. Serve as a resource for staff to help them understand age-appropriate behavior and effective behavior management strategies of young children. Observe campers and staff in activities to better understand behaviors and social dynamics; facilitate special activities as needed to address group challenges. Develop and implement Camper Success Plans to provide additional support for campers who exhibit challenging behaviors and need accommodations and/or interventions to positively engage in daily camp activities. Maintain adequate documentation of interventions with campers and staff. Communicate with families and outside supports, as directed and supervised by the Care Team Director. Serve as an emotional resource to staff as needed. Assist in planning and implementation of staff training during orientation and throughout the summer as related to mental, emotional, and social health. Participate in daily Care Team check in meetings and weekly Leadership Team meetings. Qualifications: Experience supporting the mental, emotional, and social health of children, teens, and young adults. Working towards or degree in social work, psychology, counseling or other related fields. Must be caring, patient, collaborative, flexible, a critical thinker, and team player. Possess exceptional engagement and relationship-building skills, with comfort communicating with children, young adults, and families. Attention to detail in documentation and maintaining records. Previous experience working at a camp or similar setting preferred. 1:1 Camper Support Counselor Camp Settoga is seeking a dedicated counselor to provide daily individual support for an eight year old boy with special needs. The support counselor discreetly acts as a facilitator of experience so that the camper may participate and be as independent as possible throughout the camp day. They will work to enhance independence, empower the camper to take on appropriate challenges and leadership opportunities, and foster the bunk group dynamic by facilitating active participation between their dedicated camper and the rest of the bunk in all camp activities. Responsibilities: Support the camper one-on-one by providing supervision and individualized emotional and behavioral management. Facilitate camper's participation in daily camp activities and social engagement with peers. Adapt and individualize activities as needed to support specific needs of campers. Collect data and anecdotal information to document camper's progress. Collaborate with the camper's family and additional support, as directed and supervised by the Care Team Director. Model staff expectations as related to camp policies and procedure. Participate in staff training prior to camp and any additional training during the summer. Qualifications: Minimum 18 years of age. Education and/or experience working with children with special psychological, mental health, and social-emotional needs. Must be caring, empathetic, flexible, and patient.
